Sonic games can be hit or miss. There are a lot of things the community for Sonic has that I cannot say. Sonic Chronicles and Crash Boom Bang are similar in a way (being bad DS games) but then even Shadow Legacy was not reviewed well. All game IPs can have good games and bad games. It would be fair to compare them with the times. There was no Crash or Spyro for the Sega Genesis or competing consoles. There are distinct differences between the gameplay of the Sonic Advance series and The Huge Adventure. I would think that they are relevant series today. Now with indie titles like debatably Mania or Penny's Big Breakaway, the consumer has more choices than ever where the quality outweighs the quantity. With the age of the internet, people just find out which games they want because they click with the player.
