It’s cool to see Len Lesser aka Uncle Leo from Seinfeld as Perch the drug dealer. He was pretty tough in those days standing toe to toe with Lee Marvin. Lesser served in the US Army as a sergeant in Burma and China.

Excellent melodrama, strong performances, socially engaging story about an orphan finding his way to a loving,understanding home. The viewing platform is terrible. The picture is framed in cheap fuzzy side panels. Commercials every few minutes that take 3 or 4 pokes to remove. Disrupted my enjoyment of the movie. I’d never watch this channel again

Never was wild about Frank and Terry is 95 yrs. old.....good film though.

While owner George Bater (Keenan Wynn), cook Slob (Lee Marvin) and waitress Kotty (Terry Moore) go about their workday, their diner near the highway becomes a haven for international espionage during the Cold War. One of the diner's regular customers is professor Sam Bastion (Frank Lovejoy), who works at a local laboratory as a nuclear physicist. Although Kotty and Bastion are dating one another, she has no idea what he has gotten himself involved in -- but she is about to find out. Initial release: 1955

I saw this on late night TV in the 1970s. It was great to watch it again and enjoy the good cast and smart dialogue but the action is still a bit corny.

Laughable dialogue, hammy acting, trying way too hard to be hip. Crappy music, shouted-out lines. Not film noir… just cornball imitation.

Lee Marvin stars in a bizarre spy Cold War noir drama set in a roadside 50s diner. Very intriguing plot -- with a mix of romance and spy state traitor stuff. The acting is just superb and although the story is largely pretty absurd ; its a very enjoyable watch especially in form slim youthful Marvin who never disapoints in his expert craft of playing complex hot - headed rotten bad guys. A treat for movie buffs ! Especially noir lovers -- this one is very 50s.

Superb Lee Marvin showcase. A gem. The weight lifting scene alone with Marvin and Keenan Wynn is a classic.

movie opens with our hero walking up the beach , talking on his shell-phone...he's sees damsel washed up , (drowned ?) , and attempts resuscitation ,but this early feminist has no use for his ministrations

Some of the best American actors of any era. Great story idea too. Only 10 years after Lee got shot in the arse serving his country as a Marine. Here's a bunch of men. Not like today. At all.
