The most effective treatment for bowel cancer is surgery. Surgery has improved the survival rate for bowel cancer from the 1950’s when the survival rate without surgery was 2% to today, where the survival rate with surgery is 52%. To improve the survival rate from bowel cancer surgery and the quality of life after surgery, surgery must become even more precise, accurate and less invasive. St Ma...

St Mark's Hospital is a terrible hospital. They failed to look after me properly and under there so called 'care' I deteriorated. I trusted them to help me and they never did. St Mark's Hospital is excrement.

Your department BCSC is very disorganised and with chaotic system. Very poor management. For 6 years same problems, never resolved. Other endoscopy department in other NHS hospitals are organised . There must be a problems with BCSC lead staffs. They ate troublemakers. Worst department. Worst management. For the coming 10 years if management is the same, it will never change. It will be WORST.

Although enemas and suppositories are often doctor-recommended, products are over-the-counter, it is not necessary to have a doctor prescribe the type of laxative best suited to your needs.

Very disorganised BCSC dept. They sent letters only to patients without instructions like lists of their regular medications.patients arrive without remembering their medications. No improvements for 3 years now. They need to organise giving instructions to patients before coming to their appointment. Very poor system.

I was operated on by Professor Robin Kennedy and his amazing team two weeks ago! Words cannot express my gratitude to them for the wonderful care and attention I was given! Al heroes in my opinion! How lucky am I to have this wonderful hospital on my doorstep?

Congrats to everyone involved in making this video of your incredible work - please never stop doing what you do. To this day I remain eternally grateful to Prof R John Nicholls and his team who 30 years ago gave me back my life when I couldn’t see it was worth living anymore. It was the early days of ileo-anal pouches (called a Park’s pouch at the time) and I was lucky enough to hear about the Prof’s work at St Marks, and also to have a GP who was prepared to refer me at my own request even though he’d never heard of the procedure. So thank you St Marks, my consultant now Prof Sue Clark and all the doctors and nurses for their continued support and care over the last 3 decades - I owe you all so much.

Can't think of many causes worth supporting, St Marks comes top of that short list. My reason is simply that Prof Sue Clark extended my life after a successful operation earlier this year, and St Marks have since 2003 to given me continual and undoubtedly the best support possible. My thanks also to the unsung heroes on the wards, from the nurses and doctors to the cleaners and cooks. An immense team that made my stay & operation much easier to endure. My sincere thanks to all & good luck.
