New Years Day at Shenandoah Junction in 4K
Welcome back to another video! On New Year's Day, I once again met up with @Maryland_railfan and @WarrensTrains and we went to Shen to see what we could see. We arrived and were joined by many other railfans there. It was fun to see and speak with them. We also got some train traffic! L198 came eastbound first followed by I135 and a Norfolk Southern train over the bridge. On our way back home, we stopped and caught M371 at Engles, just past Harpers Ferry. It was a fun time and I enjoyed meeting and talking to the railfans who were at Shenandoah Junction. Thanks for watching the video and I hope you enjoy! As always, subscribe to get my videos in your feed in the future. Thanks all!

Welcome back to another video! This past weekend I took another trip from my home in Maryland to visit my extended family in Pittsburgh, PA for the family Christmas celebration. Along the way I made some stops by the tracks and was able to film some trains in Cumberland. Once I was in Pittsburgh, I didn't have much free time to go film trains but I was still able to catch a manifest train cross...

Merry Christmas! On Monday Dec. 23rd, I caught loaded coal train C785-22 on the Old Main Line on her way to Baltimore with CSXT 3440 "Spirit of Ravenna" leading. I got a shot of her entering the tunnel under Mt. Airy. It was a very long train and I was surprised when CSXT 1897 "Monon Heritage Unit" came into view as the first of two Mid-Train DPUs. Despite the cold, I wanted more. I headed over...

If you are interested in getting them for yourself; head over to their website or to other dealers before they sell out! Two more batches of five are due in later the new year! Hope you all enjoy the video and have a very merry Christmas with you...

On Friday the 20th, I was out running errands when I heard a big coal train get sent east on the Old Main Line with a planned meet with L199 at the Planes siding. I was able to make it to Old Mill Bottom Rd as the second half of L199 passed by the road crossing. Once they cleared the switch, C783 continued her journey east. After that, I decided to go to Brunswick and see what action was going ...

Welcome back to another day on the MET. On Tuesday, I decided to do some rail fanning in Barnesville. I headed up and got there just in time to catch Amtrak P30 "Floridian" fly through on her way to sunny Florida. Soon after, M277-17 came into view headed west with a Union Pacific leader (UP5924 AC44CW) which was cool! I caught a bunch of other trains and even the M422-16 which had a North Caro...

Hello all, sorry for the delay in my posting. My poor old MacBook had enough of my editing and rendering videos and I had to get a new one. This is a short video of M276 that had Union Pacific power leading it east bound through Gaithersburg on Monday the 16th. It came rolling out of the thick fog and was cool to see. I'm glad I was able to see it. I hope you all enjoy and I look forward to sha...

The last few days have been very cold here. Despite that, I went out to get some trains on Thursday and Friday. On Thursday it was freezing so I did not last long, but I was still able to get a few trains before my fingers froze. On Friday I spent most of the day at Point of Rocks freezing again. I was rewarded this time with a bunch of great trains and some friendly crews! After a few hours, I...

Are these HO scale? What scale are these?
@@TrainsMaryland yes ho
@ I took a Quick Look at all the CSX locomotives, including regular locos not heritages and everything I looked at seemed to be out of stock.
@ that wouldn’t surprise me. By now, anyone who was waiting for Christmas money to make their purchases has probably done so. I’d look at other dealers if you are wanting to get any of the latest run.
Did these arrive before Christmas? I was wanting to preorder either the C&O or B&O for my son, but their customer service couldn't give me an arrival estimate. The website said "December 2025", and I told them that there was a big difference between early, mid, and late December when it comes to a gift.😁 I pivoted and got him one of the Amtrak heritage units, but have been curious if I had ordered one of these would it have gotten here in time.
Hi thanks for watching. I got them about a week before Christmas. Those Amtrak units are nice too!!
Wow epic catch and Happy New Year!
Thank you and Same to you!
That looks fun! I've never seen any Canadian locomotives before whether they're CN or CP I would like to see some, Also one question, is CP still a class one alongside with CPKC or is CP gone and merged into CPKC? Sorry if that made no sense by the way.
Thanks for watching! Yes they don’t often come all this way so it was cool to see them. And technically CP is still here since they own KC. But changed their name to CPKC.
@ Ok thanks!
@@MarteensterThere are some locomotives painted in the CPKC schemes
Yep. Got to see one a few weeks ago. Unfortunately wasn’t able to film
Another Great video and Happy New Year!👍🎉

Another great video! Thanks for sharing! That chase was fun!

Nice catch! Love tanker trains! One of my favorite trains, I also caught a 3 bay hopper coal train at Germantown
Thanks for watching! Yes it was a fun one to catch! And nice! I just missed that one out at Shen yesterday.
Wow! That's incredible that you got drone shots especially on the Old Main Line at my favorite spots. Hopefully you get a chance to do this again as it's neat to capture footage from above
Thanks! I hope so too! It was a fun time! Also good to finally run into you! Even if it was such a quick chat haha
Awesome channel great video keep them up make sure you like and subscribe thank you for your support I need all feedback on my train videos
Really neat video and love all those NS power you caught on one train! And of course the CSX Seaboard Air Line Unit was a great catch too 😊

Love the drone shots man!
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
The Metropolitan Subdivision is definitely my favorite line, I have seen the empty ethanols on that line before!
The met is great. You can see almost anything if you watch long enough haha
@@MarteensterFor sure! Lots of cool trains like military trains
I have been a conductor on the csx conrail heritage engine. It was definitely a joy.
Wow Very cool! Thanks for watching! Stay safe out there.
@@johntaewilliams8445 That’s cool! Do you have any feedback on how to plan ahead for future railroading jobs in teenage years?
@TrainsMaryland if its something that you really want to do, understand that working on the railroad isn't just riding on trains. There's a lot of manual labor, walking on rocks and other uneven terrain. It's hard on the body, so prepare for that mentally, also you're away from family and friends and you will miss important events. It's not always glamorous. If you can handle that, then you will do just fine.
@ Ah okay, if I were to work for a passenger service like MARC would I still not really be able to see my family? Because they are only running on weekdays, and I don’t think they really run on major holidays either. Also does CSX have a schedule thing like BNSF does?
@TrainsMaryland im not sure about BNSF but Metro transport is like the bus lines. You may work some holidays. It's more than likely going to be a skeleton crew working on holidays but you're going to be home every day.
I bought the CSX First Responders/911/DC/DCC ready and I love it even though I only collect/buy West Coast locomotives and yet I bought me an East Coast locomotive but you can’t blame me because it’s a very beautiful locomotive that’s for sure
It is one of my favorites for sure so I definitely don’t blame you haha! Thanks for watching!
Is the Mt. Airy tunnel able to handle double stack intermodels? It looks like it is too short.
I could not tell you for sure but IF they could, it’s a pretty tight fit. The line does take autoracks, but the fit is still tight. Thanks for watching
Too bad you have to be a millionaire to enjoy this hobby.
Haha yes it’s definitely an expensive hobby! Thanks for tuning in?
I'm a big train nut myself for sure. Watching real trains in real life and playing with my old ho model trains. I recently found out you can convert some of the old style engines into the computerized ones that you can program to go in any direction. Since this is your first video, one piece of advice, try to show more rain engines and less of the unpackaging of the engines. Otherwise very informative video
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it! Yep converting can be tricky but it’s cool that it can be done!
Preordered the L&N. Looking forward to it.
Awesome! Hope you enjoy it!
Nice catches!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed!
Another Fantastic video!👍😃
Thanks for the visit!
Nice looking locomotives there not one but 5 scaletrains they do a great job on there models . They pull very well two locomotives will pull 60 cars no problem so with 5 look out lol 😂. Great share enjoy the hobby and have a great day
Yes they do haha. Already pull my 100 car coal trains no problem with 3 :D thanks for tuning in!
No offense, if all the railroads of the 70s, didn't all merge together, we wouldn't need heritage units. I don't care for CSX, BNSF, NS. I hate them. I miss the old railroad that I grew up with. I like Conrail up until the Conrail Quality thing. I only like the original Conrail scheme. The only road I like today is, Union Pacific. It has stayed true and survived all of the mergers. It didn't sell out.
That’s true but unfortunately the fallen flags couldnt keep up economically or made terrible decisions and were forced to sell so now we have the big 4. It is what it is. I’m sure there are people who dislike Union Pacific because they were the “big bad” entity that absorbed their competition. Only can stay in it when you got the wallet backing ya.
If I had to get one, the Seaboard Systems Heritage unit & Conrail Quality unit is pretty nice 👌
Sure are! Thanks for tuning in!
The Chessie is definitely my favourite of the CSX heritage line.
Beautiful models. Maybe next time, give a little more detailed description of each locomotive. Otherwise, nice to see. Enjoy!!! Dave
@@NSWLE thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
That's an awesome Video!👍😎
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
What light did you have shining it’s really good I’m looking to get what you have
Thanks for watching! It’s actually just the ceiling lights I have in my den where I took the video. They are white pancake LEDs. (Don’t remember the manufacturer sadly) Very bright and don’t heat up.
I'm lost. You said you applied the reflective yellow FRA tape but yet it looked like they came out of the boxes with it already applied?
Yea I was wondering the same thing. Regardless the models look great
Howdy thanks for watching. Yes Scaletrains and most other manufacturers paint the tape onto the locomotives during the manufacturing process which is what you see when I take them out of the box. This is not raised at all and is not reflective. Just a lighter shade of yellow or red or white depending on the model and railroad. I then buy the decals from smokebox graphics that I linked in the description that are actually reflective and apply those on top of the ones that are just painted there by the manufacturer. It’s just a little extra realism detail that I personally enjoy and it makes them stick out when I take them to shows or to my model railroad club. Hope that answers your question!! I’d be happy to share a photo of them in better lighting where you can see the reflectivity if you’d like. Hit me up on my instagram (in my description also) or if you don’t have instagram I will be making another community post with some finished photos when I get them weathered probably in a week or so.
Howdy to you also. Just answered Eric’s question. It wouldn’t allow me to Tag you also so just replying to yours so you get the notification and can read the reply to his. Thanks for watching and I’m glad you liked the video!
There’s a quick $1500 lol. I’ve got a CPKC on preorder for March. I can’t wait.
Haha yes they are a pretty penny but I had the budget for em and in my opinion they are worth the price. Very nice! Those CPKC schemes look great! Hope you enjoy yours!! God bless.
I'm curious how the clearing of the DALI wreck impacted traffic on this line?
Great question. As far as I know, very little. Most rail traffic through here is locals to Baltimore or coal. Occasional autoracks to Jessup or back out west. Couple times a month youll get an ethanol train headed through here since they are not allowed through DC due to the obvious risks that could pose. But none of those trains seemed to slow down in terms of frequency. Coals still ran almost every day, ethanol still came through. Locals still ran. I think if anything was going through to the ports for exportation (not a lot of it); it just sat in port getting stocked up. Good question though! Be curious if someone who works at the Baltimore ports during that time would agree. This is only one line though and doesn’t get a huge amount of variation in the trains that go through.
I’ve seen the empty tanker trains
Pre-orded the 1899(pm) very excited for it
Nice! It’s a good looking unit for sure!! Counting the days till the next ones release haha! Thanks for watching!
Great video, I’m probably going to regret not getting the Chessie or B&O units, even though I would probably never run them, it would be nice to have them. Thank you for sharing these, they look really great!
Firstly thanks for tuning into the video! Secondly, love the profile pic! My model railroad is in a C&O car so I do love the sleeping kitten logo! Thirdly, if you’re serious about getting those two for yourself as display units; I would jump on their website and grab them. The C&O still has some available in DC/DCC ready for 205$ so you could save some money there since you arent going to run them. The B&O is only available in the DCC/Sound through them but maybe if you shop around at other dealers like Lombard Hobbies or White Rose Hobbies or others around the country, you could still find them in the DC/DCC ready configuration and save a hundred bucks! Good luck to ya! Thanks again!
Apologies I mistyped. The B&O AND Chessie are only available in the DCC/Sound on the Scaletrains website. Still true that the C&O is available in DC/DCC ready mode but in limited quantities!
Great video! Enjoyed it as always!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
