Приєднався 16 вер 2018
Jim Brady is a New England-based singer & guitarist in the folk ballad tradition of Ireland and Scotland. He performs an extensive mix of crowd-pleasing Irish and Scottish drinking songs, rousing sing-a-longs, and rebel ballads culled from centuries of folk song tradition.
Known for his powerful, honest vocals, dynamic guitar playing, and dedication to the roots of folk music, Jim has honed his craft over many years performing throughout Boston and New England. Immersing himself completely in the folk ballad tradition, Jim lived in Belfast, Ireland where he researched, collected, and performed songs from some of the best ballad singers in Ireland, particularly Belfast’s Terry “Cruncher” O’Neill, an enormous influence on Jim.

Great rendition. And the first one where I can clearly identify picking, chords and melody work on the guitar. Thank you!
Thanks for watching, that’s a fun one to play on the guitar, I’m glad you enjoyed
I love this❤

Good stuff....This is the song that I heard about 25-years ago that sent me down an Irish music rabbit hole that I've never emerged from.

Choose ur song 😊
Nice job
Best version ever. I'd love to hear a recording of the full song in English and in the Irish native tongue
Yes!! Keep Andy’s spirit alive! Well done!!
This is actually a song written in 1979 by Mike Cross from the Appalachians. The proper title is "The Scotsman", not "the Drunken Scotsman". Mike wrote and recorded it, but probably the most well known version was done by Bryan Bowers from his Home, Home On The Road LP and recorded live at the 1980 Winfield Flat Picking Festival. Nice job Jim.
Nice job, Gents! Nice to see the Clancy Brothers remembered as well. Aces.....
Cheers, glad you enjoyed, and thx for watching! 🇮🇪

Rebel songs are always going to be controversial. The history between Britain and Ireland has seen dreadful things done on both sides. It's a bit annoying though when Americans stick their noses into the painful history of the Troubles and attempt to glorify a bunch of people who were a major part of that. I play in a folk band too, but we don't sing anything that condones murder. (Yes, the British murdered people as well, I know that, don't lecture me on the history of that conflict, I lived through some of it!). Maybe you should learn a song about how Maine came to be stolen by force from the native peoples of what is now called America, indeed the whole of the American continent was occupied by European colonists leading to the deliberate extermination of the indigenous population or their marginalisation into reservations. The last few years has seen a fragile peace established on the island of Ireland, why are people still trying to open old wounds? You've got a good voice my friend, surely you can use it more positively. Happy New Year and God bless, Pete.
Man,just enjoy the damn song.He can sing whatever he likes. The fooking tans were mercenaries who the Brits despised as well,I would say this song fits just fine
