DNB in Surgical branches is yes less preferred than MS in Surgical , but its not all cons only. You will get yes less hands on , but you have no bond so you can utilise these bond free extra year to do some SRship in some high volume centre. In such way , a MS candidate who will be free after like 4-6yrs , similarly DNB candidate will be free after 4yrs , and both will be equal. Also i feel DNB mei you have better exposure to latest protocols and advances than in Peripheral GMCs and Also better communication skills and better litigation handling knowledge i believe which is important in Surgical branches. The only con of DNB being is less Emergency handson and the stress of passing the exam but that too is 65-90% in surgery nd Obg. So its not as bad as we think.

Give ms first than dnb ..in surgical branches ms in peripheral is good than dnb

Take it mam...doent matter whichever college u get ..u will learn

The feeling of not gonna be able to study for the exam again is legit... It's okay Dr . Accept things as it is while being hopeful for the best is all u can do. This yr exam as well as counselling is a total mess we all candidates have more or less the same feeling.

Im also confused rn , 14.5k rank , wanted General Surgery, only possible to get DNB General Surgery , conflicted way too much that taking DNB Surgery or dropping and studying 5 months to again try to get MS in GMC. Even more conflicting because Surgery is a long haul so don't want to waste time dropping. Many people saying why compromise on 1st attempt when you can try again one more time , but its hard being Middle Class and Unreserved trying to chase seats which you don't even know will be there next year or not.😢😢😢

Didi first drop (second attempt) got 8.9k rank. I have always wanted to do Medicine from a good institute, but I will probably get DNB medicine at some semi decent corporate hospital.
