Houston had actually not been too friendly when it comes to photography. Sugar Land (which is where I live) was a lot more hostile than Houston itself. When I first came to Downtown Houston in 2009, I’ve been busted for like at least once or twice the first few times, but was at least chill starting from 2010 all the way to 2016 is when things started going downhill, and now only to continue to get worse. Gage Williams came to Houston in 2019 and has gotten busted quite a lot, and so have I. This is why I don’t film in high-rise office buildings anymore to avoid having my whole entire life planned ahead of me ruined.

@@JimLiElevators I'm wondering if Houston went downhill due to various shootings. I don't think anyone at a high rise office building would ruin your life but so many unbelievable things have happened that I understand if you are playing it safe.

⁠@@aceee06 Pardon me for responding back to this comment that is a month old now. Ruining my life, Alan, is basically when you are having to get the police and/or authorities involved just over a 100% minor incident. Do you remember the time when Jared (PAelevators) got arrested for taking photos of inside a local mall to preserve a memory before demolition? Not to mention, 2 enthusiasts from both Pittsburgh and originally El Paso had the FBI involved for filming the elevators in their local facilities before. It’s no joke. Big cities (and even including suburbs) as well as other metropolitan areas have been the absolute worst case scenario of getting busted which is exactly why I am wanting to play it safe to avoid trouble any further that could be the cost of my well-being. Like if I got arrested for example for just simply photographing an elevator, that probably would be the last thing I would ever face resulting to seriously crumble up my future.

@@JimLiElevators I did not hear about Jared getting arrested just for filming in a mall. That is absolutely ABSURD to arrest someone for filming in a mall especially when it is about to be demolished. I would stay clear of FBI facilities but if you stumble in one by accident and don't realize it until afterwards I'd make it an undisclosed location.

@@JimLiElevatorsMan it is just ABSOLUTELY Horrific what I see elevator photographers go through and I’ve seen that PA Elevators also had the cops called on him once just for filming in a random office building and one of the tenants was literally caught LYING to a police officer which that’s guy thankfully received a fine. Atlanta I heard is also pretty bad and I saw Elevating Western Washington at the 100 Peachtree garage where a security guard stalked him out of the facility and even threatened to assault him just for filming the guard on a public sidewalk. Thankfully, I’ve had a great experience filming around and in Houston so far but I’ll still wouldn’t let my guard down though.

Yeah it kind of sucked but at least it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was.

@@bsvenadam A third party mod is basically when a non big elevator brand other than Otis, Schindler, TKE, and KONE and a bit more mods it with generic buttons.
