Southwest ATV Adventures

Приєднався 2 бер 2020
Exploring the deserts dusty trails up into the mountains and the forest of the Southwest on my ATV is some of what you can expect to view on my channel. Where the adventures are created in day rides, night rides and multi night trips. Upgrades, modifications and routine maintenance on the Polaris Sportsman 850 is all just part of the fun as well.
Day's - 6 & 7 of my Arizona Peace Trail Ride /ATV Overland Adventure
Join me on my 688 mile, six night & seven day solo ATV overland adventure ride of the Arizona Peace Trail.
The Arizona peace Trail is a approximately 675 mile loop trail system located on the western side of the beautiful state of Arizona. The AZPT passes through or near many small towns and there are hundreds of miles of side trails that connect up with the AZPT along the way.
To learn more about the Arizona Peace Trail go to: arizonapeacetrail.org/
Or request to join their Facebook group. Just type Arizona Peace Trail in the search bar.
On day-6 I was camped just outside of Quartzsite. I ended up sleeping in pretty late and getting a much later start to my day than I had planned. My plan is to make it to Martinez Lake where I will set up camp some where around there. I would also refuel and resupply at the marina at Martinez Lake. The route for today would take me through the GBU (the good, bad and Ugly). Upon getting to the GBU I can see it is going to take much more time to get through than I had planned for. And after getting such a late start to my day I figured that at the rate of time it was going to take me to get through the GBU I was going to put me at Martinez Lake well after dark. So I decide to turn around and take the cross over from the west portion of the trail to the east and head back south towards Dateland where I would be ending my trip there on day seven. I would spend my sixth and final night camped out under the stars in the desert of segment twelve. On day-7 I wake up and watch the sunrise from my tent. I take my time packing up camp and getting ready to ride the last 55 miles of my six night and seven day Arizona Peace Trail adventure. I did not end up making the complete loop how ever I did ride 688 miles of the AZPT and enjoyed every mile of it.

Four Peaks Wilderness Ride
Переглядів 9054 роки тому
Join me as I make my way over and through the Tonto national forest and the Four Peaks Wilderness. The clouds were low covering the mountain tops today. The Four Peaks turn off is located approximately 12 miles north of Fountain Hills, Arizona off of HW-87 (Beeline HWY). When heading north turn right at the sign (Four Peaks Rd). There are three staging areas for parking about .5 to .75 miles in...
You should of followed the power line road and not turned on good, bad, ugly. It takes you over the mountains and get back on the peace trail with a few turns. Very easy to do. Done it several times.
When I did this trip I didn't realize it was gonna be that easy to go around the GBU. Next time I go I'll know better lol. Thanks for the input.
Did you by chance monitor your average fuel MPG for the entire trip?
I did not.
palo verde youll also see palo christy
its called browns crossing
What time of the year did you do the ride?
It was in March.
My Grizzly would eat those rocks, just go for it.
Would the clutch kit make a big low end power difference even on stock tires?
Yes, it would. And you should have a smoother take off.
you still alive bud ? you didnt get eaten by a cougar or a coyote did you ?
Love your videos dude!!! Going there May 1st. for 8 days. Have some questions if you could help me please. How is the cell service throughout the whole trail. I see you caring a Garmin GPS device. Here in Minnesota you just use your cell phone and the Polaris ride command or other map apps. What could you tell me about the cell service in that whole situation. And lastly a real important one. If I start out and park my truck and trailer somewhere at the northern part of the trail and go counterclockwise like you did My vehicle sits somewhere for six or seven days. Where do you park your vehicle on trailer that's safe and that makes sense? Any help is appreciated big time thank you.
That is awesome man! You're gonna have a great time out there on the Arizona Peace Trail. To be honest the cell service was much better than I thought it would be. If you're going to ride the trail solo I would always recommend something like a Garmin Inreach or similar. I live here in Arizona so I had my girlfriend drop me off in Dateland. I was looking at doing this trail again this year starting from Salome and someone recommended parking at the Desert Palms RV resort. He said that he has parked there a couple of times and they only charged him $10 for a week. I would be careful parking anywhere in Kingman. I saw a video of a guy who got all of his wheels and tires stolen off of his truck. If you haven't already check out the Facebook group for the trail. The folks on there are all really helpful. They also have a GPX file of the trail that you can upload to your preferred GPS. Look them on Facebook at Arizona Peace Trail User Forum - FAQ GPX Q&A. Thanks for checking out my videos man. I'm glad you enjoyed them.
@@SouthwestATVAdventures Hey dude. I have been shopping for the Garmin Inreach like you said. Are you talking about the Explorer or what model? The reviews are really bad for the explorer Plus. Not really sure which one you think is best I really appreciate your opinion. Write t back when you can thank you! Changed my trip plan to mid-April now. Going April 19th through the 26th.
@@sundancer4426 I have the Inreach mini. They have a mini-2 out now but it is probably a little more exspensive. Make sure that you have plenty of water with you. It could be getting pretty warm/hot here that late in april.
Please help. Thank you
I'm not going untill next spring now. Frown....Lol
Hello! do you put efi-tuner also?
Great Set of Videos! Thanks for sharing. Maybe I missed it if you stated it at some point, but what time of year was this?
Thank you! I did this trip during the third week of March.
How many miles to you have on the Quadboss tires now? Any issues with them?
I have about 1600 miles on them now and have had no issues with them at all. I am really happy with them.
@@SouthwestATVAdventures Thank you! Waiting patiently for new content 🙂 I downloaded your videos so I can watch reruns & not worry about data cap from internet provider.
Thank you for the video great stuff
Thank you for checking it out!!
Thank you for the video great stuff
Great trip very informative
I appreciate it. Thank you 🤙
What video app did you use to edit? Great video, I’ll be on the trail this October.
Thank you!! I use Adobe Premier Pro to edit my videos. Hope you have a great trip and enjoy the trail 👍
@@SouthwestATVAdventures thank you for the response
Can a side by side fit these trails? Some look open and some look tight.
Yes, they will. Most of the folks out on this trail do it in an SxS.
What your top speed
I have had it up to 81 mph. That was fast enough for me lol
@@SouthwestATVAdventures lol ok
Your adventure is one of the best on youtube. One thing for future videos that would make them better than all others is no background music. A solution to the sore thumb issue is to use your right foot in a CFMoto Zforce 500 or 800 Trail - 50" wide SxS 😂
I really appreciate that thank you!! And thank you for your input on the music. I will consider that for sure. I have considered a SxS but I really like getting out on the trails on my ATV for the time being. Thank you for checking out my series.
@@SouthwestATVAdventures I'm looking at the Zforce 800 Trail. I would make it street legal, then go cross country over landing, pulling a Bosski ATV Trailer. 😎 I subbed to the channel, waiting patiently for new content
Can you tell me where you got the huge jar with the screw on lid? That would be perfect to put trash in 😀
That is actually a bear can for backpacking lol. It keeps the rodents, bears and other wildlife from getting to your food. It is the Bear vault BV-500
@@SouthwestATVAdventures Awesome, thank you! That's exactly what I was thinking about - bears. 😁
I think the narration you're giving really adds to the enjoyment of watching your videos. Otherwise such travel videos seem to be missing something.
Thank you and I am glad that you enjoyed them. I wanted to be sure that I explained the trail and gave as much information that I could from my experience out there so that others could use it to help plan their trip.
Hmmmm...., no break for a Red Bull? ;-)
Lol there was a Red Bull at the end of the ride.
Great series there Southwest ATV Adventures! I wonder if anyone has ever added a left hand finger or thumb throttle to relieve one's right thumb?
Thank you so much! I am glad you enjoyed the series. That would be a cool idea to help relieve the thumb. I did zip tie a stick to my thumb throttle so that I could use more of my palm and give my thumb a break.
Berger, Fries, and a Red Bull Dang, I like those diet Red Bulls even though I don't need the caffeine anymore. ;-) Hey Southwest ATV Adventures, I'm really enjoying your (2nd) video(s) on your Arizona Peace Trail. I'll be watching the full series and putting that adventure on my list of things to do! (And then I'll have to check out your other adventure travel videos!)
I do like my red bulls lol. I appreciate you checking out my series. I hope that you get to come and check out the Arizona Peace Trail for yourself sometime.
Very good videos, Thank you for sharing information in regards to the Arizona peace trail.
Thank you for checking out my videos of the Arizona Peace Trail!! I'm glad that you enjoyed them and found them informative 🤙
Loving the series. Thanks for posting, looking forward to more videos. What are you using for navigation?
Thank you for checking out my videos. I am happy to hear that you are enjoying them. I uploaded a GPX file of the trail to my Garmin 64-st. And I also uploaded the same GPX file to the Gaia app that I was using on my cell phone.
Wise choice.
Excellent scenery. Great judgement. Going solo is a little too risky even on the smooth parts. Thank you for documenting and sharing this.
Thank you! Thank you for checking my videos. That trip was a lot of fun for sure 🤙
I wouldn't rode through that shit either. Once is gets tippy, off camber, rocky and fucked up. It's no fun!
I didn't want to chance it being out there by myself that's for sure.
I hate off camber roads.
They do make things more challenging.
Enjoyed watching your whole adventure. Look forward to seeing more good content from you. Subscribed
Thank you for checking out my whole AZPT adventure! I appreciate you subscribing to my channel.
what Kind of box is that rear side..?
It is a 27 gallon storage container.
What month did you do this ride?
Third week in March
Nice vid. What date did you begin the trip
March 21st 2021
Allo Mike just found ya channel an love seein you guys do these long trips an Thankyou for showing us all the real beauty of this back country. Thank you for checking out my channel from the UK 🤙. I really enjoy the long rides. Glad you enjoyed the videos. Happy new years to as well. 🤙
I watched all 7 days of the Arizona peace trail ride and wow what beautifull and scenic views. This is a bucket list ride for sure. Thx for taking me along it was a spectacular journey.
Right on 🤙 I hope you get a chance to check out the Arizona Peace Trail for yourself sometime. The camera doesn't do it justice in the video. Thanks for checking out my video's 🤙
awesome video amigo great country in AZ
Thanks man 🤙it is definitely awesome here!!
How many mpg did you average on this trip?
I averaged around 17 - 18 mpg.
I think I may have missed it on your first video, but what month did you do this trip? You’ve motivated me to do this trip too! I’ve started planning and I’m really excited. Where did you get your paper map?
I did this trip the third week of March. I got the paper map from the Arizona Peace Trail Atlas book. That map is not real accurate as the trail has changed route of few times. The book is definitely more like a guide book to the trail and has a lot of useful information. You can get that at arizonapeacetrail.org. I would definitely recommend joining the Arizona Peace Trail Facebook group. They have the most current GPX file of the trail there under the files tab. I uploaded it to my Garmin GPS and the Gaia app and I didn't have any issues with navagating the trail. I hope you have a safe and wonderful experience out on the AZPT.
@@SouthwestATVAdventures Awesome thank you! I joined the Facebook group and they’ve already been super helpful! Did that seem like a good time go for camping? Seems like you had a mix of hot and cold (but not too cold) weather.
Right on 🤙The folks in the group are awesome for sure. It was perfect for camping!! The direct sun was a little warm during the day at times. But the actual temperature was nice when I was riding. It would get down to the upper 30's low 40's at night wich to me was perfect for sleeping. The next time I go though I would go a little earlier, like in February.
We ride in the Midwest, Tn, Ky, Il, In. Wi. - It’s always in the woods, Lots of trees, waterfalls, and lots of MUD!, So easy to get lost, Cellphones don’t work at all where we go. We have a group of about 8 or more. I’m on my 3rd. Quad, I want to get a CanAm 1000, very expensive. I would like to ride in Arizona but not sure if it would be boring, day after day, It is awesome looking, But I don’t see much of a change, Kinda of like a ship in the ocean. If I do go, I wouldn’t mind our group to camp out like you did, I would have to buy all the camping stuff then. - Cool video.
Thanks for watching!!Sounds like you all have some pretty awesome rides out there. Sounds like a good group of folks you ride with. Arizona is an awesome place to ride. Lots of different scenery here. If you get the chance you should check it out. Even if it's not all you thought it would be scenic wise, you'll still have an awesome ride 🤙
Great videos, hope to see more
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed them!! Thanks for watching.
💯👍🏽

Great video. Beautiful landscapes. I'm watching from Brazil, and I'm trying to make a marathon of videos from your trip. Thanks for sharing!!!
Brazil is a beautiful country! Thank you for checking out my videos. It was a great ride! I hope you enjoy them 🤙
Buenas noches , muy buen video saludos desde España.
Thank you 🤙
What map system were you using on your phone
On my phone I was using the Gaia GPS app.
I was thinking about getting this exhaust. Does it get on your nerves after a long ride because it's so loud? TIA
There has been a a couple of times I have wished I could turn it down a bit. But honestly I really like the sound of this exhaust. RJWC also has a series called the Krossflow. The noise is supposed to be a little tamer than then Mudd series.
@@SouthwestATVAdventures do you have the quote cores in yours?
@@oregonhomeinspections3692 I do not have the quiet core in mine.
What an awesome series of the AZ Peace Trail. You did the right thing on calling it quits when you were dropping into the canyon. It's not worth getting hurt or tearing up your ATV. I am glad you posted this video. I was waiting for the end of the series. Take care brother.
Thank you my friend. I appreciate it! That canyon was definitely sketchy lol.
Great series of videos of your trip. When we are riding alone is very important decide when to know return back.
I agree. Thank you for watching 🤙
@@SouthwestATVAdventures watching from Faial Island (Azores) Portugal
@@mariomota9075 That is amazing!! You have a beautiful place to ride there. I do appreciate you watching from so far away 🤙
I was looking forward to seeing the facilities where you fueled up and got lunch. Wondering why you didn’t include that part of the trip. Enjoyed the video none the less.
Thank you. You are right I should have included those stops in the video. I was thinking that no one would probably want to see those. But I was wrong. Thank you for your input and for watching.
When you talk when your tent is set up, you need a muff on your Mike as when the wind is blowing we can hardly hear you and it's very difficult to hear what you are saying. Makes you want to find a quiteter video. Otherwise very interesting trip.
Thank you for your feedback. I realized that as well and have taken steps to improve that in my future videos. Thank you for watching!
