    Very good project ! But 10uf,25 v. capacitor was polarized, and sw. was connected to that cap. not to the 220pf cap. I am searching such a simple n effective frequency generator for testing on my 3 1/2 digit DMM, that has only 200kHz range. Thank you very much.

    Shouldn't the voltage between (+) and (-) be double the voltage i.e. 0.9V?

    • @diymade2175
      @diymade2175 Місяць тому

      Thanks for your interested! Theoretical speaking, the voltage between (+) and (-) is V - 2 x 0.7 volt = V - 1.4 volt (here V is input of AC voltage). Suppose V is 230 volt then the voltage between (+) and (-) is 230 volt - 1.4 volt = DC 228.6 volt, however if V is 2.5 volt then the voltage between (+) and (-) is 2.5 volt - 1.4 volt = DC 0.9 volt. Cheers! 🙂👍

      Thanks for your interested! The DC output capacity for this DIY power supply is 40 watt, so its max current: I = 40 W / 5 V = 8 amperes also the components of the output have been chosen for 8 amperes as max allowable current. In practical as the the video showed, a car's bulb rating: DC 12 V / 21 W so across its current was 21 W / 12 V = 1.75 amperes. Cheers.

    • @diymade2175
      @diymade2175 3 місяці тому

      Thanks for the interested! Mate, your intention are: A 3 phase AC motor to run by single phase AC power then how to connect a capacitor to that motor, am I right? <1> make sure the motor has been connected by Delta (∆) in the motor's terminals box. <2> Then, a capacitor can be connected to any two terminals in the motor's terminals box. <3> Finally, to connect Live(L) wire from AC power to the one of the capacitor's terminals, Neutral(N) wire from AC power to the terminal in the motor's terminal box which has not been connected by the any one of two wires from the capacitor. That's it & good luck! P.S. - It wouldn't be any good for a 3 phase motor with the larger capacity (a motor > 1 kw)to run on singe phase AC power.

    • @diymade2175
      @diymade2175 3 місяці тому

      Thank you for the interested! For your question, as an example by referring to the volt/ammeter's diagram connected at 4:35 on this video: Connecting your DC buck converter's output positive(+) to the load's positive terminal which is on the top left corner from the diagram, then connecting the load's negative terminal to the one end of shunt (this end of shunt is also connected to Thick Red Wire from the meter) which is on the top right corner from the diagram and finally connecting your DC buck converter's output negative(-) to the other end of shunt (that end of shunt is also connected to Thick Black Wire from the meter) which is at the bottom of the diagram. P.S.-- Be careful with the wires in different colours and also Thin Red & Black Wires are for the meter's power supply which its range is DC 4 to 30V. That's it, good luck and enjoy! 👍

      @diymade2175 5 місяців тому

    • @diymade2175
      @diymade2175 5 місяців тому

      Thanks for the interested & yes, you've spotted one thing on! To put it in the simplest way for answering: The reasons for attaching a capacitor to a single phase AC motor are (1) Easy to start motor & then run it smoothly as you've mentioned. (2) To improve Power Factor because the coils inside AC motor as whole can be seen as an inductor in the AC circuit, so you might have known already - an inductor has the voltage 90 degree advanced over its current however a capacitor has the voltage 90 degree behind its current, in practical circuit a capacitor & a motor together will compensate some phase angles each other but all, that will be the result for improving Power Factor for whole grid system (for your own benefit, improving Power Factor, the less current goes through your home elec meter, the less the power bill you have to pay).
