Head Coverings, Female Pastors, and Female Deacons?
How should we interpret 1 Corinthians 11:1-16? Is Paul teaching that women must wear head coverings? What does the Bible (not Baptists) say about women pastors? Was Phoebe a Deacon? If so, doesn't this contradict the qualifications for church leadership in 1 Timothy and Titus 1? Pastor Justin tackles these questions by turning our attention to the Scriptures.

God instructed the people to be fruitful, multiply, and to scatter all over the earth. Genesis 11 shows us that the people decided to settle in one place and to build a city/tower in order to make their name great and to prevent from scattering over the earth. The people rebelled against God's directive and their pride lead them to seek significance, satisfaction, and security apart from God. Satan, of course, is the tempter but he did not cause this to happen. Men and women willfully decided to disobey. In the context of that Bible passage, Paul is referring to mankind. It points us to our sinless Savior who died in our place.
