I have PTSD From being in the anesthesia room when I had multiple surgeries and surgeries scares me my first surgery was I had to get a finger nail removed and the second surgery was I had to get my tonsils removed and my third surgery was I had to get my gallbladder removed the gallbladder surgery was the roughest one I had in my life it hurt really bad and felt sick after surgery and I was depressed and sick but I feel better I as I’m outside working I think about my pasts from surgeries and it still freaks me out and I still can’t get over it I feel bad for the little kids and adults who have to go through surgery
Was he waking up from anesthesia? If so, he was tame compared to others who wake up from anesthesia. My mother, who was the sweetest reserved woman I ever knew, had surgery one time for a hernia. I was with her when she woke up. During that first 20 minutes, she recited every cuss word in the book and made up some new ones in the process! But an hour after she woke up and I told her what she had said and how she behaved, she swore up and down I was lying to her that she would never say things like that! The frontal lobe is Disabled under anesthesia and it takes a while to kick in once you wake up and that’s what Controls your inhibitions so the way he reacted here was very much normal.
Man..I hope I didn't say crazy things. I've had anesthesia lots. There was only one thing that happened to me that I can remember. I was waking up from anesthesia and this person had their hands in my face messing with a tube in my nose. I didn't know I had a tube in my nose, so when she was doing that..I thought she was trying to suffocate me for some reason. I grabbed her arm and told her she best remove her hand from my face or she'd lose it. It was then they gave me more oxygen and I was waking up a lot more. I apologized to her profusely and told her I thought she was trying to kill me by trying to suffocate me. I swear it was like a horrible nightmare in my mind. I thought assassins were after me. Wtf? I would never have done that in real world. I wonder why it has you do or say things you normally wouldn't? 🤔
I’ve only had a General anesthetic twice in my life. Once at 18 months old for a tonsillectomy for which I vividly remember being in a green room on a table and seeing this round light fixture over the operating table and then someone lowering the mask over and onto my face and then recalling nothing after that until I woke up in another bed awhile later. I remember my throat hurting and asking quite aggressively where the ice cream was that they promised me I would get before the surgery. My first memories that I can date go back to 13 months old so this is still vivid even many decades later. The second time was when I had to go under a general to have a needle I stepped on removed from the ball of my foot that nobody could find previously and when I woke up I only remember being thirsty but was told later that I kept asking for someone to bring a bathroom sink and to lay it on my bed. I have absolutely no memory of asking this. But I’ve heard horror stories surrounding others who’ve woken up and were violent towards the nursing staff and/or family members or just generally made an ass of themselves, especially if pain was present just after waking up and before pain medication was administered. And then none of them remember anything about those first moments once their heads clear. Family secrets and personal suppressed trauma have also been spilled during these moments of waking twilight. Alcohol has much the same effect (except for the negligible lung issues that can be caused by anesthesia) but for great entertainment be sure to bring in cameras when a loved one is waking up from surgery!

It takes 24 hours for the anesthesia to generally wear off from him.
