I truly object to You-tubers making a mockery of Scotland and it's traditions. It's like saying the Loch Ness Monster or Unicorns don't exist. How dare you. These elusive creatures DO exist and fortunately nowadays the hunting of the Haggii is controlled. Certain of their species has become extinct through over-hunting in the past, the Caithness coastal three clawed Haggis for one example, and the Lowland Long haired for another, but I live in hope that there might be a small flock that has survived, undisturbed by human contact, in some hidden glen somewhere in Scotland's wilderness. As we are fast approaching National Haggis Day, 25th January, I beg revellers not to over indulge in too many ritual Haggis dinners. Keep in mind how tenuous their existence is.
Oh, I hear your plea, and I share your despair, For the Haggis, so rare, with its long flowing hair. The UA-camrs mock, but they just cannot see, The majesty roaming each glen and each scree. The three-clawed of Caithness, the long-haired of Low, Extinct, you say? But perhaps they still go, Through the mist-covered hills, where the brave dare not tread, With Nessie and unicorns, not quite yet dead. So on Haggis Day, let us all take a vow, To honor these creatures, not hunt them down now. For the Haggii are sacred, their plight we must heed, And leave them in peace to frolic and breed. Mock Scotland? How dare they! Such nonsense, I say, Let’s toast to the Haggis and its National Day! 🥂
