What Are The Pros and Cons of Moving to Australia? A Colombian’s HONEST Experience
What Are The Pros and Cons of Moving to Australia? A Colombian’s HONEST Experience
I've recently talked about my life as an Australian expat living in Colombia in 4 different videos (the links to those are below), but in this video I wanted to ask a Colombian to give me their perspectives on moving to Australia and I asked her about the pros and cons, the culture shock, the differences in food, weather, work culture, and much, much more! I hope this video will help you decide if moving abroad as a Colombian or Latino to Australia or other country.

    Yeah, hospo is demanding in Australia. I always work full time hours during the peak season but at a casual rate.

  • @jacelpobre

    I'm surprised to hear from an Australian that the work culture here is strict and the boss is yelling. Thankfully that happened to me once only in my 4 years working here in hospo. I love the work culture here in Australia compared to my country. My workmates here are so nice including the bosses😊

      Hi! Thank you so much for watching the video. It's really interesting hearing your perspective and I'm glad to hear you're lucky enough to have good, friendly bosses! When I used to work in hospitality years ago, most of my bosses were friendly and nice, but when I once did a corporate job in an office, I found the people there were much ruder and bossier and some of them were just not nice people at all, and it made me hate my job. I'm really happy to hear that you're having good experiences in Australia, and I hope you enjoy your time there 😀How's the work culture in the Philippines compared to Australia?

    • @jacelpobre
      @jacelpobre 4 години тому

      @ The work culture in the Philippines is strict, especially among managers and supervisors “not all” but most of them are hehe, they seem take their job seriously. But in Australia in hospo industry managers and supervisors here are very easygoing people.

    That hill has been famous since ancient times because people who went there would get lost, some for several days. Many people say it's witches, others say it's goblins. That’s the reason why some guides 'pray' to these entities.

In some of my recent videos, I talked about my experiences as an expat living in Colombia for 12+ years, so in this video I wanted to ask a Colombian about her experiences living in my home country, Australia. What are the pros and cons? What difficulties has she faced adjusting to her new life? In this fun chat, we talk about a whole range of topics that could help you decide if moving to Australia is the right decision for you! If you enjoy this kind of video, let me know in the comments, and tell me what other kinds of videos interest you. You are right, they once were the apex predator until dingos basically eradicated them on the mainland, and then they only existed on the island of Tasmania until they were sadly hunted to extinction in the early 1900s. Tip for experiencing the true Australia; Forget Melbourne, that could be aby city in Europe. Forget Bondi Beach if you're in Sydney. It's the most over rated over hyped over priced over crowded tiniest most crowded piece of sand in Australia. Full of drunk backpackers, broke European backpacker thieves that will steal as soon as you hit the water, look at me's and please will you look at me's. Don't even bother about Byron Bay, you will be seen as nothing more than a walking dollar sign to be bled clean. Gold coast? Huh. And if you don't want to contribute to the killing of the reef forget the barrier reef. Tourism is the major contributor to caral dieback. Hire a car, get out of the city and head down the south coast instead of the tourist trail north full of fake Australia and fake Australians who only care about how much they can get out of you. Or drive to Sydney the coastal way up through Lakes Entrance Mallacoota into NSW and up the coast through Wollongong to Sydney. Down the unknown road you will be seen as friends and not tourists with money. There still is Australia in some places, most have slowly become 'just another tourist trap' unfortunately.

    • @AbroadWithBen
      @AbroadWithBen 24 дні тому

      Hi there! Thanks for your comment. To be honest, I agree with much of what you said especially about some of the tourist traps and overpriced places. It's very true, sadly! Your suggestion about hiring a car and driving around the south-eastern coast and towns is a great idea and an awesome way to see some of the lesser-known areas of the country. My intention in this video was to show some of the famous cities and attractions, and a few other places that are less well known to foreigners. Someday, I'll make a part 2 about some other less touristic places with a focus on Australia's unique nature and landscapes. Thanks again for your comments, I appreciate this kind of feedback and suggestions.

      Sorry to hear that about Mexico 😞 Although I haven’t yet been to Pereira, I’ve heard it’s in a very beautiful part of the country with lower costs of living than the bigger cities like Bogotá and Medellin. I’ve lived in cities that are similar in size to Pereira and they were nice but had more frequent infrastructure problems (like electricity and water issues), but hopefully Pereira is a bit more developed. I’ll try to make a video there within the next 6-12 months and I’ll include those details 😀

    Isn't it incorrect to generalize on these topics by referring to the whole country? Could a person generalize about all of Australia or the USA? Finally, what is your opinions on Pereira in these issues, especially compared to Medellín?

    • @AbroadWithBen
      @AbroadWithBen Місяць тому

      Hi there. I agree with you, and it wasn't my intention at all to sound like I was generalizing about ALL of Colombia. I've lived in and visited several cities and towns throughout the country, and in the video I wanted to talk about some of the common traditions and customs I've seen throughout the country, but you're right, every region, town, and city has their small differences in culture, traditions, customs, foods, and much more. I'm sorry to say I haven't yet visited Pereira but it's definitely on my list of places to visit sometime in the next 12 months, so stay tuned, I'll make a video about it when I eventually get there.

    I live in Australia and the drop bear is actually a myth to scare tourists and if you see one it is just a koala but koalas are cute but they can be aggressive so if you see one it will be smart to keep your distance.

    I would add to your comments about the echidna (spiny ant-eater) that they are a very unusual egg-laying mammal or monotreme. That places them with the platypus as the only egg-laying mammals on earth.

    Guys, I had an amazing time making this video for you about some wild and crazy animal moments from my home country, Australia! It brought back some amazing memories of my childhood when I was lucky enough to raise pet kangaroos (yes, seriously!), and it's been fun teaching you about some of the cute and not-so-cute animals from my home country.... like crocodiles,. cassowaries, snakes, spiders, and of the worst of all, the ferocious drop bear! This video has it all! Check it out and if you have any questions about Australian animals or life in Australia, leave me a comment below. I'd love to hear from you!
