I just went here today, lol, very nice! i entered with my stomach empty, i got out with my stomach full, a totoro poster, a studio ghibli poster and a Totoro plushie :D.
"According to my friend, ChatGBT" 🤣
Hahaha if you know the Terminator movies, Sarah Connor would be so mad at me 😂
Note to self... Drink more smoothies!
They were sooooo delicious seriously! 😀
Good morning from Florida, USA. I really enjoy your channel!
Hi there in Florida from Medellin! Thanks so much for your very kind message and support of my channel, I really appreciate it. A lot of time and work goes into making these videos but I love it so much! Starting this channel has been one of the most fun experiences of my life and it makes me extra happy when I see that people enjoy my videos. Thanks again 😀
Agua de panela is delicious, I also love it. I drink it in the morning and the evening. Sometimes I drink it with lemmon. Another great video! ;)
Hi Andres! 😀 Yeah it’s delicious! I didn’t even know panela existed before I came to Colombia and now I really love it! Thanks again, I’m glad you liked the video and I hope you’re doing well
@@AbroadWithBen 😉👍

Hopefully someday 😀 But thank you!
Hey guys! I really hope you enjoy this latest video as much as I enjoyed making it! If you know of any other myths or stereotypes you've heard about Colombia, please drop them in the comments and perhaps I can make a part 2 in the near future! Check out my other travel videos next using the link to the playlist in the video description above! Enjoy!
I hope you've tried mote de queso.
I actually haven’t tried that yet, I don’t know if it’s a common dish in Medellin but it sounds delicious 🤤😀
@@AbroadWithBen It's from the coast, especially from the Sinú valley area (Montería and Sincelejo). I absolutely recommend you try it. According to WorldAtlas, mote de queso was lauded as Colombia's best soup.
Thank you so much for the tip, I’d never heard of it before but I’ll try to find a restaurant that makes it in Medellin and I’ll give it a try 😀
@@AbroadWithBen Best of luck!
😋
Hey friends! This was a REALLY fun video to make! I was quite surprised that ChatGPT created some very interesting Colombian fruit smoothie recipes. What's your favorite fruit juice combination, or is there one from this video you'd love to try? Let me know in the comments!
I think they closed ? :(
Hi. Maybe they were closed over Christmas but their Instagram still seems active instagram.com/vegardenmedellin?igsh=b3E2ZXZ4Z2FrZTF0
Zapote is also one of my favorite fruits! I haven't ate them for years. I need to buy some! 😅 There is an upcoming soccer championship this first week of January here in Choco called Amistades del San Juan (San Juan Championship). A very unique event here in my department. 😉
I found a strange juice recipe in which Zapote was blended into a juice… sounds weird but I’m gonna give it a try haha. I’m gonna blend a few unusual fruits together to see if I can make a delicious juice…. But it could end up being a disaster 😂
And the soccer event sounds really cool! I hope someday soon I can visit Choco
@@AbroadWithBen Yeah, It is every first week of January. I also hope you can visit the department. 😉
Out of curiosity, how did you learn English? Your English seems very very good!
Mango with milk is delicious. I really recommend it! 😊
Hi! This video is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing it with all of us. Here in Choco department we have a fruit called Borojo. The fruit is packed with essential nutrients, particularly vitamin C, calcium, and phosphorus. It is very rich too. My family and I love drinking it so much. There is also another fruit called Granadilla, which is similar to passion fruit and Maracuya. It is also my favorite. you can cut it and eat it with a spoon.
Hi there! Thank you so much for this awesome message. I put a lot of time and work in to making videos so it's always great to hear that a viewer has enjoyed it, so thank you! About 2 or 3 years ago, I made two videos on my channel tasting about 20-30 fruits (over the two videos) and I LOVED making those videos! I tried Granadilla (which is another of my top 5 Colombian fruits!) and I even tried Borojo, which was interesting. If you're interested in watching those fruit tasting videos I made, here are the links: Part 1: ua-cam.com/video/riOfOROQNAs/v-deo.htmlsi=cG4oKqgkasyyuWen Part 2: ua-cam.com/video/Pz4CCEXDNsM/v-deo.htmlsi=fLXrvqJIlcqjhaoI If you ever have any suggestions for more fruits I could taste in new videos (or ideas for any other content), please let me know. I always appreciate the suggestions. Thanks again for your very kind comment, it made my day. Have a great Christmas and New Year!
@@AbroadWithBen Merry christmas and Happy new year too. 😉
@@andresayala1995 Wishing you and your family a very happy Xmas and New Year too! Best regards
@@andresayala1995 oh and I *might* be working on another fruit juice video… but this one will be a little different 😀
@@AbroadWithBen Awesome! Can't wait to see it! 😊👍
Watching this one again. Darn, it's almost midnight here and I'm getting so hungry watching this video. Man, I really miss Colombian arepas! Da kine. Most of the ajiacos I've had I helped make (and consume) while back in the States, but of course they originate in Bogotá. And the packets of dried herbs that are the secret to an authentic ajiaco must come from Colombia. You also really need the various special varieties of potatoes from Colombia, but you can fake it with potatoes found elsewhere. In any case, I'll be dreaming about Colombian cuisine tonight. Cuidaté!
Hola Ben! This is sooo exciting! Really makes my week to hear from you and to behold this fresh video all about the delicious juices of our beloved Colombia! Thank you so much for this production. The juices I remember the most from the ones you covered are: 1. Limonada de coco - for sure- so good, usually of course served with various degrees of sweetness added. But I found them usually with lime ('limon') as opposed to lemon. 2. Lulo (I don't remember 'lulada' per se but lulo is always one to look for as primary fruit in a juice. 3. Guanábana 4. Maracuya. In general, I would ask at restaurants or juice bars if there was a sugar and no-sugar option, and usually go for the sugarless option. Most of my time during my first round of (eight) trips to Colombia was spent in Bogotá, Cartagena, Santa Marta, and elsewhere on or fairlynear the Caribbean Coast and up to La Guajira. I really look forward to visiting and exploring Medellin and the coffee region. I will surely reach out to you before I return so hopefully we can meet up. That would be amazing. Cheers and take good care mi amigo!!!
I'm really so happy you enjoyed the video! It was hard selecting just a handful of fruit juices to include in this video when there were soooo many options. But I thought I'd start with the most common juices, and if I make a part 2 and 3, I'll look out for some of the lesser-known fruits because that could be a fun video too. And I agree with you, I always order fruit juices with no sugar, I think the sugar drowns out the beautiful natural flavors of the fruits, it's really not necessary. I really hope you get the chance to visit Medellin, it's an awesome city! I haven't been to the coffee region (Eje Cafetero) yet either, but it's on my list of places to visit! Keep in touch and all the best to you!
Hi. Wishing you a very happy Christmas and New Year! Also… I *might* be making a part 2 video of Colombian fruit juices… but this video will be a little different. It should be on UA-cam in a week or two. Happy holidays!
Hi again! Just letting you know I published a second video about Colombian fruits and smoothies, but it’s a little different from the first one. Hope you like it 😀
Hey friends! I hope you're all doing really well, and I'm wishing you a happy Christmas and vacation! I loved making this video tasting some of Colombia's most popular fruit juices, but I feel like I've just scratched the surface because there are SOOOOOO many more juices I can try in future videos. Please send me your request and suggestions, and I'd love to hear your ideas for future videos! Let me know if you've ever tried any of the juices in this video or if you'd like to whenever you visit Colombia. It really is a fruit lover's paradise! That's kick boxing 😂😂
You’re technically correct 😂😀
Yeah, hospo is demanding in Australia. I always work full time hours during the peak season but at a casual rate.
I'm surprised to hear from an Australian that the work culture here is strict and the boss is yelling. Thankfully that happened to me once only in my 4 years working here in hospo. I love the work culture here in Australia compared to my country. My workmates here are so nice including the bosses😊
Hi! Thank you so much for watching the video. It's really interesting hearing your perspective and I'm glad to hear you're lucky enough to have good, friendly bosses! When I used to work in hospitality years ago, most of my bosses were friendly and nice, but when I once did a corporate job in an office, I found the people there were much ruder and bossier and some of them were just not nice people at all, and it made me hate my job. I'm really happy to hear that you're having good experiences in Australia, and I hope you enjoy your time there 😀How's the work culture in the Philippines compared to Australia?
@ The work culture in the Philippines is strict, especially among managers and supervisors “not all” but most of them are hehe, they seem take their job seriously. But in Australia in hospo industry managers and supervisors here are very easygoing people.
Hey guys, I’m a Filipino and interested in learning English and Spanish. I don't hang out with Filipinos too, I instead hang out with Aussies, Canadians and Latin Americans so I could improve my target language.
That hill has been famous since ancient times because people who went there would get lost, some for several days. Many people say it's witches, others say it's goblins. That’s the reason why some guides 'pray' to these entities.
Thank you so much for that explanation. I didn’t know that, and they obviously didn’t mention that part on the tour haha. Thanks for watching the video and for the interesting info 😀
Hey friends! In some of my recent videos, I talked about my experiences as an expat living in Colombia for 12+ years, so in this video I wanted to ask a Colombian about her experiences living in my home country, Australia. it irks me, that one of the most impressive birds in the world is NEVER mentioned. THE WEDGETAIL
Yeah unfortunately it wasn’t in the original video that I was reacting to. But I might make my own video of unique and amazing Aussie animals in the near future and I’ll be sure to include the wedgetail
Fun video - short and sweet. I’ve been to Colombia seven times, and have spent solid time in various areas, so it was cool to not know a couple out of the ten, or maybe not remember the exact name. Thanks, Ben! You really killed me bringing food back in to the picture.
Thanks so much for the very kind comment. I hope the video brought back some good memories of Colombia for you! Sorry to make you crave the food hehe. I might have to make a part 2 to this video because it seems a lot of people are interested in Colombian food 😀
@@AbroadWithBen One other food to consider would be the amazing plethora of jugos (juices). I was absoutely blown away just about everywhere in Colombia with the fruits and the juices. I always ordered the ones with no added sugar. No need! Cheers!
That’s a great idea! Thanks so much for the suggestion. I’ll definitely keep that in mind for a future video perhaps within the next month or two. I appreciate it 😀
@@AbroadWithBen That's awesome. I'm subscribing so I'll see it. I will also check and see if you have any videos for Jamaica and Mexico!! Cheers!
Hi @dpwaldman3145. Guess what? I just made the video you suggested about Colombian fruits and even gave you a little shout out in the video to thank you for your awesome suggestion! I'll probably end up making a part 2 and 3 in the near future! I had a lot of fun making the video. I hope you like it!
I thought Tasmanian Tiger was once the apex predator of Australia. Confused Yank here. Though they are missed.
You are right, they once were the apex predator until dingos basically eradicated them on the mainland, and then they only existed on the island of Tasmania until they were sadly hunted to extinction in the early 1900s. Scientists are trying to bring them back from extinction which is fascinating stuff! Thanks for watching the video 😀
Fascinating birds!
Those dogs are hunting dogs.
How does their sphincter make square feces?
I read it’s something to do with their unique intestines. You’ll probably be able to find videos on UA-cam explaining it, I’m certainly no expert haha 😂
This video is great! I didnt know anything about wombats at all, and I see that they are fascinating!
@@BudandBloomWithBlossom thanks a lot, I really appreciate that. I’m glad the video was at least education hehe 😀
I could have tell you dude those do not look like square cubes.
Hehe not the best picture but you can Google it, they definitely poop in cubes 😂
@Dannydonnelly The end of the video shows the squares clearly. 🪻🪻
Tip for experiencing the true Australia; Forget Melbourne, that could be aby city in Europe. Forget Bondi Beach if you're in Sydney. It's the most over rated over hyped over priced over crowded tiniest most crowded piece of sand in Australia. Full of drunk backpackers, broke European backpacker thieves that will steal as soon as you hit the water, look at me's and please will you look at me's. Don't even bother about Byron Bay, you will be seen as nothing more than a walking dollar sign to be bled clean. Gold coast? Huh. And if you don't want to contribute to the killing of the reef forget the barrier reef. Tourism is the major contributor to caral dieback. Hire a car, get out of the city and head down the south coast instead of the tourist trail north full of fake Australia and fake Australians who only care about how much they can get out of you. Or drive to Sydney the coastal way up through Lakes Entrance Mallacoota into NSW and up the coast through Wollongong to Sydney. Down the unknown road you will be seen as friends and not tourists with money. There still is Australia in some places, most have slowly become 'just another tourist trap' unfortunately.
Hi there! Thanks for your comment. To be honest, I agree with much of what you said especially about some of the tourist traps and overpriced places. It's very true, sadly! Your suggestion about hiring a car and driving around the south-eastern coast and towns is a great idea and an awesome way to see some of the lesser-known areas of the country. My intention in this video was to show some of the famous cities and attractions, and a few other places that are less well known to foreigners. Someday, I'll make a part 2 about some other less touristic places with a focus on Australia's unique nature and landscapes. Thanks again for your comments, I appreciate this kind of feedback and suggestions.

I truly hope your time in Australia will get easier and better with time, and I hope you will fall in love with Australia! Thanks again for sharing your experience and feedback.
I am so happy to know you chose Colombia as your favorite country for living. I definitely don't understand why Colombians want to leave the country while foreingers want to live in the country. 😅 Colombia is a country full of surprises and places to be discover, like Choco (the department where I am from) and many many others. I am a person with limited resources and have relatives in United Stated, but I wish to live and work in Canada because it is offering a lot of job opportunities, and it has also nice places to visit. Greetings from Choco department and great video! 😉👍
Hi Andres! Thank you so so much for your very kind comment! I agree that some Colombians don't realize how incredible their own country is! I think Colombia is one of the most beautiful places in the world and I always speak positively about this country because I truly think it's amazing! Even after 12 years living here, I know there is so much more for me to discover, and I hope to visit Choco someday! Thanks a million for watching the video.

Interesting video! Medellin's flower festival (Feria de las Flores) is one of the biggest in the world, and the biggest event on the city's calendar. Well worth visiting! Thanks for sharing this event with the world. It's something Medellin people are very proud of!
