Vegan Biscuits Epic Failure
Переглядів 32Рік тому
This was my second attempt at making vegan biscuits. I think the recipe calls for too much chia seed and too much coconut oil. I should’ve cooked them in a dry cake pan instead of a cast iron skillet and I should not have coated them in butter flavored oil. It’s just a habit from making Southern biscuits. I really don’t have a reason to be vegan because I don’t have a sensitivity to traditional...

    Thanks for sharing this video! This is very much like the way many nomads wash their dishes, although many nomads use either vinegar or alcohol (rubbing or vodka) in their "cleaning" spray bottle and then water to rinse. Air drying (especially in the sun) is the best way to dry your dishes as you aren't transferring anything from the towel to the clean dishes, but I definitely think that cloth towels are superior to paper towels. Regarding your comment on showering, another way to clean up without going into a "full" shower is to use a spray bottle with a little Dr. Bronner's soap and water and a wash cloth. Spray the wash cloth however many times you need to, wash part with one side, flip, wash another part with the other side, rinse out and repeat until you've washed yourself. Fast and very water conservative.

    Do you have a recipe for teacakes, old southern tea cakes that look like a biscuit. All the recipes I find are for cookies, but the ones I had growing up was not cookies. They had some kind of spice, maybe nutmeg or cinnamon or something, they were mildly sweet and not sure if there were eggs in them but I don't think so.

    • @feistysoutherncooking3513
      @feistysoutherncooking3513 Рік тому

      Those old tea cakes were a thick, soft cookie. They were a contemporary adaptation of Snickerdoodles. They were made with nutmeg and one egg. They were also made during cool weather or in a larder before 1835 when dry ice was invented and the icebox became a household appliance. That was when Cry Babies, Tea Cakes, Snickerdoodles and Nazareth (sugar) cookies became Icebox cookies. They had to be chilled to prevent the baking powder from proofing before baking in a slow oven. In 1885 and 1891, the recipes for sugar cookies and snickerdoodles were published and the other two were forgotten. I do have the original tea cake recipe and I have the modern recipe for glazed tea cake cookies
