"Canopy of Peonies" 6/6 FINISHING the Painting #paintingprocess #originalart #oilcolors
Near completion of a painting, it's possible to "lose" the artwork. Watch the video to find out how this can happen and what I do to prevent overworking my paintings. This video is about FINISHING the "Canopy of Peonies" original oil painting, ... we're beginning with a few stills showing where I left off. From a cadmium red medium to a cadmium yellow light colours are layered and edges softened. The entire canvas is worked to maintain a cohesive quality throughout the painting process. Abstract elements, vibrancy of contrasted colours, raw passages and jagged strokes create texture and depth and allow space for the imagination to roam. These elements also help to lead the eye around the canvas, drawing attention to prominent objects within the space and crystallizing the painting idea... the concept. Structural elements and a bloomy volume are integrated within the space... watch the video to learn more.
