E-flite F-18 elevator/ flying stab modification

I just picked up this 18 and after reading and seeing issues with the stab I decided to mod in similar fashioned goniacs. I had some old freewing mig 21 servo horns that fit perfectly on the servo spline so I created a heavy duty mod That wasn’t to challenging. I used 4-40 socket head screw and nylon lock nut, a little aluminum tape on the threads where it fits into the sliding control horn. I ...

I love everything except to risk with a cortex pro gyro instead of a Powerbox gyro? Powerbox is the best, and everybody knows that other people make cheaper units, and that's why people buy them. Cool jet
Who cares? I’ve flown rc over a decade and not needed a gyro on any of my aircraft! Other then my 3d helicopter, yes I’m starting a heated debate
@@stevennagley3407 Good airplanes with good pilots don't need gyros. I never have, and I never will.

It is an amazing flyer, shown off beautifully by the pilot. I surmise that this model uses a turbo jet - I could spot apertures let in around the nose for its air intake. I liked the "under new management" finish - presumably from a captured example that passed through RAF hands. The yellow underside (used for "prototypes" in the 40s) looks particularly good against a blue sky. Kudos to pilot & constructor(s)!
You can hear the turbine, clearly it's turbine powered. Without going turbo jet it would have to be powered by a large solid rocket motor and that wouldn't work well.

Great flyer, great pilot. Now I want to see a full size reproduction that utilizes a modern turbine instead of a rocket. Great model. Loved the takeoff dolly and the dead stick landing.

I'm British. And only an hours drive from where I live is an imperial War museum called RAF Cosford. And the have on permanent display is a Komet Me 163. And next to it is a Me 262. Try Google Earth to learn more.
What an increadible skilled pilot! A precision landing in front of him, using no engine.... many private pilots can not do that, such an exercise without engine.
