And the width is..?
How much weight do you use with the Nova?
@@garycotz563 weighting is a question with so many variables. Really has very little to do with the drysuit itself. What type of water are you in, what temps, what is your cold tolerance, how thick and how many undergarments are you wearing (one of the biggest factors), what configuration are you diving(single, doubles, aluminum, steel, CCR vs OC), what are your personal buoyancy characteristics? So many variables to consider. However, that being said. Single Aluminum 80 in fresh water with a 7mm wetsuit. I dive 12lbs, moving to a drysuit with base layer, and mid layer vest I add 4 lbs. doesn’t matter which of my various drysuits I am diving. In doubles of any size in fresh water. I don’t dive any lead. Salt water single AL80 I use 20lbs lead, mini doubles I use 4 lbs, big doubles no lead. CCR fresh no lead, saltwater 6lbs. I hope this helps a little. But I cannot answer question for you. Also the answer is not specific to the Nova. Should be same with just about any drysuit compared to another drysuit with same diver and configuration.
Thanks for the channel, very helpful reviews. Suggestion re the Saber lights -- it would be great if you could ship the handle only (i.e. not including the torches) for international buyers to save on shipping.
@@jonathankelly2249 currently we do not ship internationally.

We need moisture in the Rockies. Rain down here does nothing to help. Only makes for brush and desert fires. Which uses up more water.

Very good job on this installation. Only advice I could add would be that it is far easier to mark up the inside of the suit using a templet versus trying to use the ring itself. Place the ring on a thick piece of cardboard and mark that, then cut that out, and use that cardboard templet to place into the suit and mark the location of where you will glue the ring to. Here too, the first layer of glue should be given a full 24 hours to cure completely before applying a second layer, for both the ring and the suit, for best results. You could additionally add a thin ring of glue around the edge of the ring after installation to overlap the ring and the suit material for an added measure of durability and to prevent peeling.
Great tips! Thank you! I agree some easier ways of doing it.
The "Oval" ring system is not the "Quick Cuff" system, it's the QCS Oval system made for the Antares dry glove system. I would have strongly advised to measure the outer diameter of the P/U rings, then turning the sleeves inside out and measuring the sleeve diameter, and marking them up at the best fit location, prior to cutting the sleeves on the suit. The "best fit" location is a point at where the diameter of the sleeve is 0.5cm smaller than the diameter of the P/U ring. This creates a very snug fit for the P/U ring inside the sleeve when mounted. I also would have advised to take that time before cutting to measure the length of the sleeves to ensure they were exactly the same length on both sides when marking them up. This way, when you cut them, they end up exactly the same length and the same diameter with a snug fit for mounting the P/U rings. I would say you got VERY lucky after blindly cutting the sleeves based on an assumed fit. Next, heavily sanding the P/U rings is a must, absolutely (and honestly, this is exactly where a dremel tool shines), but there's no need to sand the trilaminate material of the suit (or the neoprene if the suit is neoprene). Glue will seep into the cloth material and form a permanent bond with the first layer. You should allow that first layer on both the suit sleeves and the rings a full 24 hours to cure completely before applying the second. Use old wine bottles for the sleeves to keep them sitting upright while they dry, so they don't touch anything. If you apply glue too quickly, and don't give it time to cure completely before applying the second layer, typically this results in brittle glue with a partial connection, and it doesn't last long. It either delaminates or becomes brittle and begins breaking down. This is often the reason why some people have neck or wrist rings that come off their suit after a single season or within a short period of time. Whoever put them on the suit (either at the manufacturer or a local tech) didn't use the correct type of glue, or didn't do proper prep work (such as correct sanding), or didn't give the glue time to cure properly before moving on to the next step.
Thank you for the detailed feedback!

I know there’s a lot of personal preference involved, but why wear your computer on your left arm. I have always followed the model that the left side is occupied during ascents and descents and so the computer is easier to monitor on the right side. Is there an argument for wearing it on the left?
Brandon, many reasons to wear the computer on the left. First the rebreather (ccr) manufacturers usually put the controller computer for the unit on the left. Your dive light is mounted on your left hand so you can also see the computer with the arm already extended to the front of you utilizing light. Power inflator on the left. As you are venting the wing or drysuit the computer is right next your face, great opportunity to view the information on the computer, most people are right handed and wear a watch on their left. Standard muscle memory, most people are again right handed so anything they pick up, point to, grab on maneuver all done with the right hand. Keeps left hand free to use, power inflator, illumination with light, and rotate to dump wing and drysuit gas. Now let’s get into the technical side of diving. 1 all tech divers should be diving with a minimum of 2 computers. So one worn on each wrist. I personally dive with 3-4 (ccr controller, 2 back up independent computers, and if diving with open circuit buddies a 4th set to OC with the gasses they are breathing so in the event of an emergency. I have a good idea of their dive profile and can assist them to the surface based on their profile) so NERD on my ccr, one computer on each wrist, and one clipped off in my pocket. The right side of the diver is designed for emergency gear. Right pockets etc. having that side clear with nothing I the way to access emergency gear quickly and efficiently. This also keeps my left hand with my primary computer free and in my line of sight, regardless of what my right hand is doing. Assisting an injured or unconscious diver to the surface you are venting their wing of gas on the assent, my left hand is holding their power inflator on in my left hand, up To vent it. Also right in my line of sight to keep a safe controlled slow ascent. So to answer your question. Yes it’s a personal preference which side you wear the computer on. However the correct way you should have been taught day 1 is primary computer and primary light on left side.
