Yep. I think the new sprocket setup works better for the street even if the increase in top speed isn't very impressive. The engine doesn't quite rev out at top speed with the taller gearing as compared to the stock setup and thus the top speed doesn't improve by a lot.

The most common issue that I know of with SXV:s are blown headgaskets. I also know of issues with coolant leaks (on early models), flaking valve buckets and loose flywheel bolts. What kind of issues did you have?

Yes, I currently have a 17 tooth sprocket fitted but I've yet to measure the new top speed with GPS.

Difficult to say. I think the Aprilia would be more fun and unique but also more demanding in terms of maintenence. I would think the ktm 690 has better fuel consumption and could go longer distances.

No, I believe stock sprockets were 13/50. Way too short for supermoto.

All depends on sprockets. I've had my KTM 525 exc supermoto to 115mph 15-42 sprockets now changed to 14-42 and still get more than 100mph

I would imagine the 560 is capable of a better top speed than a 300.

I would say the EXC 300 is reliable but not as good of a commuter bike as a 690/701 would be.

Most cellphones have a gps update frequency of 1Hz. That's why it's slow to update during acceleration, when at steady speeds (top speed) it should be more accurate than the speedometer.

Do you get any front end instability at over 150km/h? Mine feels very un-easy at those speeds? What is your suspension setup? (front rings drop, clickers, etc?)

Alice racing map should have a revlimiter at 12500rpm.

Sold the bike years ago. Don't know specific revs but it was alright at 110 and was good for how I used the bike.

Stock plugs for the SXV, NGK CR8EKB.

Bought it a few years ago with some minor issues. Biggest problems I've had was a broken sprag clutch and a leaking head gasket. No issues since I fixed those problems. The main issue with reliability seem to be related to head gasket leaks. Overall, I think the reputation of poor reliability are somewhat exaggerated online. I would recommend you do all work on the bike yourself if you buy one as I wouldn't trust any shop with the bike.

Den var inte i toppskick när jag köpte den så behövde fixa ett par saker direkt. Strax efter att jag fixade småsakerna gick startkopplingen sönder och jag fick öppna upp motorn igen. Under förra året gick en topplockspackning sönder. Har inte haft några problem med den sedan dess. Huvudproblemet med SXV är topplockspackningarna, i övrigt vill jag påstå att ryktet som hojen har är något överdrivet.

It had a few electrical issues when I bought it. After fixing those I've also had a few mechanical problems. The sprag clutch broke shortly after buying the bike, I then decided to split the cases and replace the crank and conrod bearings. Afterwards, I was able to ride the bike for about 15h before the rear cylinder head gasket failed. Currently waiting for parts.

@@supermotosloth Was the clutch slipping on the video? It sounds like it when you overtake the car in 1:40 .

Those were stock on the 2008 model in europe.
