This website doesn't work. Why did you change? I can only get the "search". No options of dates, towns, newspapers, etc. It just doesn't work
I hate the new search engine or method. The old one was a lot easier and actually gave me the results I was looking for. The new one gives hardly any results or thousands so it's impossible to find what I'm looking for. I've tried multiple ways to get the same results I used to from the old format. For example I've tried finding old newspapers that I found on the old site and now they don't show up. Even searching the exact same phrase.
The pink highlight is very hard to see if you're red-green color challenged and there's a bunch of us out here.
thank you for this important feedback.
This is a great service you’re providing. I’ve used the FultonHistory newspaper archives for a long time but you’re search engine is much easier to use. The first time I used your site the search words were highlighted in bright yellow which made it easy to visually scan the article but yesterday those highlights were changed. I really like that the entire newspaper pops up instead of just the single page.. Hoping a pay site doesn’t take this over like Ancestry did with all the information they mined with their free site in the early days.
Excited for the website's new look and functionality! Just a couple of questions: will the individual URL's for newspaper images downloaded prior to the new site remain the same? And, I haven't seen this feature on any newspaper website, but it would be immensely valuable to be able to search for any and all newspapers within a set radius of a specified location. Newspapers that might cover a place not otherwise served by it's own newspaper but could be covered by some that are relatively close. It would be immensely helpful to be able to identify such newspapers. Just a thought. I'm very much looking forward to using the updated website, especially the expanded search features!
Yeah, sorry :) The urls will change. This was an inevitable consequence of changing software packages. Unfortunately, we were unable to provide an automatic URL translation. Basically, the ID that identifies the newspaper title has changed, and we think that changing our links once every 10 years isn't too steep a curve. :) A new feature that might interest you is user accounts. When you have a user account you can save your results to "private lists" that allow you to take notes about each result. You then can share the results via email with others. To create a user account click on "Register" in the upper right corner and follow the directions.
@@NNYLN Very sorry to hear this. I will never be able to update the hundreds of cited pages I have in my Ancestry tree. It appears I will have to search for each individual page again in order to bring a citation up-to-date, which I will do for direct line ancestors since I visit their timelines fairly frequently, but will have to leave the majority of cited pages with broken links. I'm not a programmer but it seems an algorithm could have been developed to translate old URL's to the new ones. I do appreciate the improvements to the site, I just wish it didn't come at such a high cost to me personally.
Aww I remember that Robot Disco, it was such a blast!!
I am SO thankful we have Cuán talking about all this! 👏🏻👏🏻
