This footage is my very first filming for youtube from the winter '21/Spring '22, it is unfortunately all over the place and using a few different cameras which is one of the many reasons its taken me so long to get to editing and posting this.

Handmade Tap Handles

In this video I make a handful of prototype tap handles for a brewery. It was fun to figure out the processes and techniques to be able to produce these more effieciently in the future when I hopefully need to make a lot more of them. I got the colors custom matched to the colorway the art design firm used for the brewery logos and initial merchandise design. I used Behr cabinet and trim paint ...

1980 Honda XL185s Motorcycle Exhaust and Speedometer repair
Переглядів 4174 місяці тому
We got this fun little 1980 Honda XL185s motorcyle. It has been running great and starts right up, We did rattle it apart a little bit on our first trip out, and this video shows the projects and repairs I tackled to get it ready for the next trip. I performed some TIG welding and light fabrication on the stock exhaust and replaced the speedometer cable. Repair don't replace!

In Part 7 of the 19ft 1964 Carver Captain wood lapstrake boat project, I finish fabrication of the Transom and get it installed in the boat. In Part 6 of the 19ft 1964 Carver Captain wood lapstrake boat project, my dad and I tackle repairing a few of the plywood planks topside. This was a very tedious process, especially with the fastener removal and replacement, being very careful not to damage the good planking during the process. In Part 5 of the 19ft 1964 Carver Captain wood lapstrake boat project, I start the process of building a new transom for the boat. It may seem like I am being very cautious with this step, but I have a good bit of time and money tied up in this new transom at this point, so taking it slow to ensure I get it right the first time when fabricating this crucial new piece of the boat. This boat was ...

In Part 4 of the 19ft 1964 Carver Captain wood lapstrake boat project, I fabricate some dollies to set the boat on making it much easier to work on the hull. Family comes through helping to lift the boat off the trailer and onto the dollies using a chain hoist and the gantry I built. This is a quick overview of the boat as it currently is before we start in on what will hopefully eventually be a full restoration of the boat. After the overview I get the Mercruiser Alpha One outdrive removed in preparation for complete engine removal and transom repair. A couple months ago we did the 4000 mile drive from San Diego to Minnesota and back in 5 days to get the boat from my paren...

    Love your content! I rode a Honda 110 ATC when I was a kid and some 46 years later now I can't stop my craving to buy a Honda xl185s for 3k with only 2200 miles on it. I'm on the fence though and need something to push me over and release my obsession? I'm envisioning some fire trail rides up around our house in Big Bear.

    A simpler more austere final layout, more quality laminates, lighter airier look, and it will be an heirloom to keep for many years to come. Campers are a home away from home.

    Now to blend the new interior varnish with the old. I recommend a glaze mixed with the varnish. I have used an oil-based stain mixed in tiny amounts to the varnish. 3 coats tested on new scrap and maybe one unifying coat on old inner planking of the same varnish glaze to blend all.

      Thanks for this info. I am planning to sand back and revarnish the interior as it’s all cracked and peeling but I will do more research on the glaze blending technique. I honestly don’t have much experience with this sort of stuff so any advice is appreciated.

    • @makestuff__fixthings
      @makestuff__fixthings 2 місяці тому

      Usually a bouncing needle means one end of the cable is skipping. Hopefully you can reseat/tighten the cable at each end. Check to see if the cable has any broken or missing teeth at the hub end.
