There is another level to Tim's act. He'll make meta quips about how densely packed his show is. The silliness of his humour becomes kind of a running gag in itself, and sometimes you'll get a person in the audience who is just on the ropes from relentless one liners, so you start laughing at their laugh as the show goes on.

Before tv when the radio was a valve set which would need to warm up before coming through and after a while you could toast your bread on the top [not really but it got quite hot] we would sit together as a family and listen to the radio on a Sunday. The goons were also required listening.
