Autonomous Field Painter - University of West Florida Capstone Design

Marking lines for sports fields is a mundane, time consuming task often left to volunteers or over-extended, tightly-budgeted parks & recreation departments. This can result in inconsistent and inaccurate field markings or inefficient use of financial and human resources. An autonomous field painting robot would remove these inconsistencies and make more efficient use of all available resources...

Spring Mass System Modal Response in MATLAB
Переглядів 6 тис.4 роки тому
In this video, I discuss a MATLAB script I developed to determine the natural frequencies and mode shapes of an n-mass spring-mass system. The script also numerically solves the equations of motion and plots the position, velocity, and acceleration of each mass in the selected mode of vibration. The theory and background of solving for the modal response of a spring-mass system was covered in a...

In this video we look at how to model a multibody spring-mass-damper system in MATLAB Simscape, a derivative of the Simulink application. A simple model involving two masses is created and simulated to a unit step input. The results are analyzed and the Simscape settings are adjusted to show the application's functionality.

    • @ironpine5815
      @ironpine5815 Рік тому

      Yikes! You can use the same type of signal pin, but you’ll definitely want to power the actuator using an external source. The smoke was likely due to the actuator pulling more current than the Arduino could provide.

    Hi, currently working on a similar problem of my own and found this video very helpful. However in my problem i don't think I can assume f(t) to be zero as it is a unit step input. Would you know how to change the code for this? struggling to find anything else on this topic online. Thanks!

    • @ironpine5815
      @ironpine5815 Рік тому

      First, you will have to add f(t) to your equations of motion. That should be straightforward if you're comfortable with drawing the free-body-diagrams. I don't think adding f(t) will change the application of Euler's Method in the numerical solving of the EOM's. You just need to be able to create a piecewise representation of your unit step input! Let me know if that works!
