How to Clear Choked Basin
Переглядів 63 тис.4 роки тому
How to clear choked basin. Do you find the water flow in the basin has slowed or clogged? This happens quite often if you have a basin at home. There is a vital accessory below the basin called a bottle trap. It has dual functions. It will trap foreign matters from finding its way into the piping system. And to prevent odors from traveling back up into the bathroom. Once this happens, the simpl...

Let me show you how I found a cheap SSD online, bought it, and replaced the SSD of my Dell laptop all by myself. It's a straightforward process - but I'll highlight the part where you have to be extra careful about! You'll need...
How To Repair Cracks in Walls
Переглядів 4144 роки тому
How to repair cracks in walls. I made this video with my son, showing how I would repair the cracks in our walls. We renovated our house and it seems that the contractor did not do a good job. There were cracks on the plastered walls, and I had to fix it. To do a proper job, deepen the cracks and fill it with an expandable compound. The contractor did not fill up the cracks before plastering th...

    Uncle William, there are many retirees living on their limited savings and in need of handyman services from time to time like changing taps, changing lights, to unchoke a pipe or toilet bowl, replacement of electrical water heater, chemical cleaning of aircon with a high pressure water gun etc. If we call an electrician or plumber or aircon man, it will cost us an arm or a leg. Sometimes even our head. Will be good if you can provide simple handyman services at low prices to such retirees. By word of mouth and referrals, the business will keep coming in. Good for you and good for retirees too. And before long, there will be tons of retirees in Singapore in need of your services. You can turn your handyman skills into a business and at the same time help the seniors community.

    Of course, before you do this, try 1. flushing down about 1.5 litres of boiled water or 2. add baking soda and vinegar. Flushing down boiled water fixed my kitchen sink drain pipe choke.

    Hi William, I am from SG too! May I know what is supposed to come with a new sink when I buy it? Does it need to come with the PVC bottle trap and also the pop up drain? Is it a universal size for all?

    Thank you thank you thank you. I was gonna cheat and just clean the bottle and not remove the whole thing but the water still wasnt going down fast enough. I hesitated for few minutes and was gonna give up. I hate working on piping stuff. Anyway I remove the whole thing and immediately saw the blockage. This is a kitchen sink so 6 years of oily stuff stuck there had to be remove. It wasnt that difficult but just gross. Replace the bottle trap if you have a weak stomach cause its a lot cheaper than paying for therapy later, trust me. Thank you once again for the clear instructions

    If the bottle causes choke. Why do we use it in the first place? Just wash everything down? Even with bottle trap not all dirts are trap there. Some still flows through right? Ty in advance

      This is the requirement, it acts as a strainer and also to prevent the smell from coming out of the pipe.

    • @teachmedad2460
      @teachmedad2460 3 роки тому

      No, do not have to turn off the water from the main as this is the waste side, it is separate from the main line. There's no pressure on this side.

    Thank u for video! I saw some kind of glue around the bottom cup with upper cup. Any idea what time of sealant is that?

    • @teachmedad2460
      @teachmedad2460 3 роки тому

      That was some old silicon that was left over by the contractor that installed my sink. You don't need silicon or any sealant if your rubber 'o' rings and gaskets are in good condition, it will prevent any water leakage, even in high pressure systems we depend on the rubber gaskets and o-rings to do the job!

  • @hazirahredzuan5105

    Hi, i already clean the whole cup and the sink still clog. Why? Thanks.

    • @teachmedad2460
      @teachmedad2460 3 роки тому

      Check the strainer at the sink and also the pipe after the cup. The pipe that goes into the wall or elbow that turns downward after the cup.

  • @jasminetay1798
    @jasminetay1798 3 роки тому

    May i ask what is the rubber for?

    • @teachmedad2460
      @teachmedad2460 3 роки тому

      Rubber o-ring and gaskets is to give a good seal between the 2 other hard surfaces as rubber is compresseable. Since the drainage of the sink do not have high pressure, do not over compress the rubber rings or gasket. Usually once the contact is there between the two surfaces just another half to three quarter turns is good enough to prevent leaks.
