Today, I'm travelling with you at Peyto Lake, a stunning attraction in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada.
Peyto Lake is a glacier-fed lake located in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. It's renowned for its distinctive, heart-shaped appearance, which is especially visible from the overlook on the Icefields Parkway. The lake's striking turquoise color comes from the rock flour (fine sediment) that the glacier deposits into it, reflecting sunlight in a way that creates its vivid hue.
The lake is named after Bill Peyto, a pioneering guide and trapper who helped open up the area to tourism in the early 20th century. The surrounding area is great for hiking and offers breathtaking views of the Canadian Rockies.
If you're planning a visit, the best time is typically from late spring to early fall, as winter can bring heavy snow and ice.
