Beerie shows what to do when you relize that you are standing on your running line during the delivery of a critical cast.

So much for 10 to 2 and not using your wrist LOL.
Think Fosbury.
An interesting and intelligent approach
Ah...the you tube algorithm brings me back. And still I see some clowns who would struggle to cast 50 ft dissing a master
best instruction, ever......
"Peter has been the Australian Casting Champion a total of ten times and he has twice represented Australia at World Championships. A twice silver medal winner at these events, on one occasion Peter cast a single handed fly rod an incredible 74 meters." www.peterhayesflyfishing.com/ourtutors.aspx ...yeah...he's a real slacker. Open your mind, folks. You'll cast better.
people reply too quickly before getting all the info ,and therefore MISS any chance of picking up knowledge
I am amazed at the level of ignorance displayed here by these comments. Peter was asked to demonstrate the 170 degree cast. This is actually a wonderful distance casting technique and one of the few actual "tournament" casts that is also useful on the water, especially for throwing large flies. Watching the rod flip flop is deceptive, its what the loop does that is amazing. Peter is one of the finest casters of all styles and his ability to master so many styles is rarely matched. Having fished with Peter I can assure you he is one of the finest, on and off the water. I think these nasty comments show a true ignorance of where flycasting has gone over the years and for what Peters actually been asked to demonstrate. If you are still casting 10 O'clock 2 O'clock you are missing out on so much!
Absolutely agree. I think Peter is an innovative fly caster.
Clinic held in May 13...brilliant, the guy shoots common casting theory out of the water, and backs his arguments up, by actually showing you what he's on about. He can roll cast and entire line out with minimal, if any effort. The guy is also an excellent teacher. He makes it simple for the guys. I learnt a lot as did everyone who was there. Really worth going to, the man is a genius
only a ozzy would do this, god if he was teaching me i wouldn't have caught my first fish, poor technique is an understatement
Is this guy joking?
....you guys are pulling my leg? It must be a piss take. If he had a fly on the end surely he couldn't cast properly with the fly snagging or slapping the water?
You blokes annoy me with your snide and ill-informed comments. I would like you to list your achievements and show a video of yourself casting. Haysie has achieved in both casting and fishing. Look forward to seeing your comparative CV.
No he's not taking the piss . He's using the pull through method. He keeps the rod back in a 'javelin' like position before he rotates the rod forward. Read up on Mel Krieger. I will say that the guys stance is very loose, but it's his own style and he seems to cast well. I too rock when I haul (using my whole body on the cast) but I'm pretty sure I have much stronger wrists than him, leading to better rod control and Bruce Lee whipping line speed :)
Is this a piss take? Is he trying to show how not to cast? am i missing something? watch this and then watch Lefty Kreh's casting videos.
Spent 7 minutes of my life on something bad
Relaxed and brilliant!
@diesIrae12 Do you talk bollocks for a living?
Some interesting poses and choreography going on! I noticed that as the student was casting, the line was actually flying past him at waist height!
He has no fly on his line fortunately; he will cut the grass with his his back cast. Too low the rod!!! I make all line out woth half movement
So he is a master caster, but is he a master baiter?!?! ZING!!!!
Peter is very well respected in oz. However, there is a huge difference between casting in a park and trying to do it in the water. I don't know of anyone who can cast a full line under proper fishing conditions. (and we're talking a proper saltwater line of 120ft, not the cheats trouty line of 80ft).
100ft cast at a 50lb permit with 20 knots on the nose ..... I want to see that one in real life.
If you have ever watched him do a perfect imitation of your own cast, and then showed you how to fix it, you'd understand why he is as respected as he is. Excellent caster, brilliant teacher and great bloke.
