The problem with most trains is that they are based on have friction with the tracks....the engines have to be heavy as all get out to be able to start to pull and maintain momentum of all the cars. This weight also has to be moved by some sort of power. We need to come up with a better solution than this.....that is more cost efficient than diesel.
Steam trains in south australia have to stick to the tourist lines since everything been converted to standard guage🫠
