    Your bonnet turned out very cute! So sad that it isn't that easy to find the base ready everywhere. Now you only need to knit some of those 1830-40s recipes for Opera hoods and the other things that ladies used under the bonnet to warm up. I assure you it will be easier than making the bonnet itself :D

  • @nannasallynelson3990

    Great video. Back in The Day, women would purchase just such a blank bonnet and decorate them , and next year they would refurbish them with new ribbons, or perhaps a purchased flower. My great grandmother was a miliner and during the Great Depression she was able to get work when her husband could not and helped keep food on the table. Unfortunately my great grandfather found this very difficult to deal with and she had to stop... PS please do not resort to hot glue, it is so much more difficult to remove than thread if you want to make a change. Also, to prevent the thread tangling, use a shorter piece, about the length of your arm. Makes a big difference. Sally in Australia

      I totally agree, I stopped buying knits from the modern stores only if I find something special in a vintage ones, but I find it even easier to just knit one that I liked as not everything I find in vintage stores are my taste, or the right color of fit; I am so happy you have a big collection to knit your own vintage knits ✨🩷 sending love and inspiration your way thank you for sending love mine 🥹

      I really love vintage knitting. I think people are so used to knitting in the round on modern patterns they can’t imagine flat knitting. (I get it! No pearling hahaha) But flat knitting has magic you don’t get with knitting with round needles. Something about seeing the fabric as construction pieces… it‘s so satisfying. (Also not holding the entirety of a full sweater while knitting is also nice)

    • @fvidder2210
      @fvidder2210 19 днів тому

      @ For me, I think I just wasn't digging some of the example colors from the book, but seeing a more green witch-y version really sold this one. I wonder if some of the other pieces would be more exciting to me in other colors.

    The camisol is amazing. Thank you for finding it. Maybe as a corset cover later in the century. During the Regency it would have had a too high collarpart. Your gloves are beautiful! The apron would have been ornamental, for indoors. They wouldn't have worn it for real garden work, even picking the flowers for the dining table. They'd be impractical.

    • @elziboba
      @elziboba 2 місяці тому

      Thank you they are gorgeous patterns, I agree some are not very regency but can be adapted to make a more regency accurate garment ✨ it’s a lovely apron I guess can be used as a modern or history bounding one, it’s a lot of work (knitting vise) to use it as an actual apron for gardening I would probably just sew one instead😊 thank you for all your detailed comment very informative

      I am so glad I have tried this marathon, made me realize I do want to just procrastinate a lot haha, I am happy you had fun watching me force myself 😅 thank you I am more and more liking the two toned sweater look

    I feel you. When I start learning how to crochet, I did some stuff just because the process of making it seem interesting, I ended up never using them and had to unravel a lot of stuff.🤦‍♀ When I got to knit, I started to think more about if it would fit my style and the weather where I live. PS: I feel like it is common that the girls who like to knit, sew (or similar handcraft/diy work) have green as a favorite or one of our favorite colors. I love that.

      I am glad I am not the only one, thank you for sharing ❤️ I don’t know why but I always go for green over any other color, should change things up a bit
