Thank you Agnes Knowles for this inspiring interview with Rob Schwartz about "The Wisdom of Morrie: Living and Aging Creatively and Joyfully" (published in 2023) by his late father Morrie Schwartz (beloved subject of "Tuesdays with Morrie". I also loved the movie too that Oprah produced with Jack Lemmon playing Morrie.
I so enjoyed our chat!!!

💝 loved it
Thank you for this video Agnes. Very true, very timely, and very encouraging! I love what you said about being able to sell you knowledge after a couple of years.
Now for a bit of ketchup (catchup). Since we got acquainted, back in the early days of retirement, I learned that my life work is with healers as an intuitive reader and reader of healers' fingerprints and hand prints. I'm becoming a fingerprint and hand print analyst. From that I'll learn major issues that healers face in burning out, going through compassion fatigue, and similar problems.
+J. Russell Burck so glad you found a clear direction. Please send me a link if you have a digital home!
Will do.
What a delight, Agnes, to see your name in my inbox. I had missed your New Year's in Sept email, till I searched my email. I enjoyed your video. Actually, I have made bad decisions. Here's one: Shortly before I got acquainted with you, I decided to start a biz as a lead-gatherer for business merchant account providers. That was the first of several bad decisions about that particular biz. 1) I didn't talk with my wife about starting a biz 2) When she caught me paying money to the company that was recruiting lead-gatherers and asked me to stop, I refused and kept on going. That caused a lot of hurt. The "data" that I was going on was the convincing and honest tone of the person I talked to at the recruiting company. Part of what was bad was that I had something to prove, namely, that I could tell a scammer from an honest person in a phone call. 3) The next part of "bad" was that I was willful in my response to her. My refusal to rescind my actions was almost sheer stubbornness. There are several other facets of this turd-jewel, but this is enough to make my point. So decisions that are not collaborative, that are based on having something to prove, or that are willful in character are good candidates to be bad decisions. Now, where I agree with you is that often our judgment that we've made a bad decision is self-punitive and is a form of self-harm. The cue that we've made a bad decision is, as you say, that a particular decision didn't work. Not a good criterion. Something can even "work out" and be a bad decision. That takes us back to Edison: "I haven't failed, I've learned one more way that won't work to make a filament for a light bulb." So where did Edison fail? In his relationship with Tesla, specifically about Alternating Current and Direct Current. Careful study of that dispute will probably yield some more decision rules that will help us identify "bad" decisions before they're enacted. When I get time, I'll expand on this point.
+J. Russell Burck Good to "see" you again, Russell! Please don't misunderstand my theory - there are more than a few truly poor (=bad) decisions out there... but so often we do make the best possible decision at the time and as you say, becomes self-paraging... my intent was to make those folks think it was ok. You, my friend, are not off the hook in moving forward without full-disclosure! (sending you a big smile as I say that!) thanks for stopping by!
Not payng attentin to my google messages. Just saw this, Agnes. Nice reply. My argumentative side was on steroids again. So what more would you like in terms of full disclosure. You realize that's a tome, don't you? Warm regards, Russ
Simply the Truth well said, Agnes
This is a great tip Agnes, thank you for sharing! Love that fact that you have an example in the end of this video.
+Christina Påhlman Never hurts to "be prepared", Christina!! Thanks for watching!
This is why I follow you. Thanks for sharing how we don't know how great we can be. Sometime others see it in you first and point it out as you did for me.
You are so right. Perfect, just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Best of luck with the selling!
Thanks Agnes, This tech tip makes sense. Happily my new laptop is the upgrade model with full port options including HDMI for connecting to Smart TVs'. Happy you stepped out of your comfort zone and addressed this important tech detail. Michael, the healthy Guru!
Agnes, you have away with words goals explained really well thanks for Keeping it simple.
This is so true Agnes, I think too many people hide their light, rather than becoming the great person they could, because they don't know that they can.
what great tips Agnes, thank you! Most people don't know that they can be a great person. The journey of achieving big dreams can develop you to be a great person.
I had not internalized the quote quite this way, Viviana... but a light sure came on when Les Brown did!
Beautiful. Keep following your dreams! xoxo
Agnes my friend, You are living your dreams now my friend. I am sure your mother is looking down on you and smiling, maybe even laughing at you... Right now because you are a Champion and one amazing Friend, Mother, Grandmother, gifted Editor and Blogging Angel! Thank you for being You, Michael
I guess I'm moving into complex-big-time. LOL :D
haha... but it's the "next step" for you, Stella, not one of the first steps!! You're gonna Rock It!!
That is true, just so funny your message came now. :-)
Yeah, but...thank you for your darndest advice!
Love it! Absolutely love this! A must share
I love this. Saying "it's possible" seems so much more honest in many cases.
I like that!!! How does it get even better? What is possible here that I didn't even consider? Thank you!
Yes, I find myself typing too with my headset on! Lol
Simple useful tips we can use you have a Gift for teaching , Agnes Be Do Have
Nice turn on getting a better perspective on situation.
Thanks for sharing these golden nuggets from the call you were on. "Why me," keeps a person stuck.
Love this! Great idea. Back when I was a student, I was SO guilty of cramming for exams and then not remembering it an hour later...
Haha! weren't we all, Michelle! As adult learners, however, usually when we are learning something we have a vested interest in the subject matter and the retention. I sure find most learning now is easier... and certainly more fun!
Very interesting Agnes. This is such good advice, especially for all of us that want to eventually share what we learn.
Giving a learning opportunity our full attention is often hard to do, Ree, but to go into it excited about the subject matter, interested in learning, and then paying attention so we can teach it to anyone - client, family, anyone... really changes our engagement level!
Great topic Agnes. Bravo! I never pay attention to my mind and emotion before, but I do now. Emotion presides mind and mind presides action. Let's program our super brain with positive emotion and thoughts and watch the impact in our life.
I like the idea that we are "programming" our minds.
This is SO true! Great way of bringing this analogy to life - it makes so much sense.
Thanks, Michelle! I wish it was all my idea! :-)
I find I am happy to takes risks on some things and not on others, but there is not necessarily any logic to the way my mind chooses which risks I am willing to take and which feel just too scary!
Me too Helen.
I'd say just starting a business is a risk, so we may as well forge ahead!
I have always found it amazing how many people do feel negatively towards the rich while wanting to be rich themselves.
You're right, Ree. I think sometimes the correlation is not an easy one....
ABSOLUTELY the TRUTH. Your mindset about MONEY and WEALTH is the first hurdle one must overcome, IF that mindset is negative or disdain.
I think I may need to read that book!
great discussion of the book, Agnes. Thank you. As we become aware of our habits, we can change it.
Great advice and insight Agnes. Love how you were so professional, managing to keep a straight face through the interruption!
Thanks, Helen! dogs barking is one of those things that you keep thinking will end... and it's only in the editing that you realize it really is quite invasive! Might as well laugh at life!
That is really good advice! Know thyself through vacuuming. :-) May sound funny, but it's very true.
and if you want to know thyself at my house, Stella, you are welcome!
:-D I most certainly look forward to that! Many thanks for the invitation!!
You are so right and this is such an important message for anyone wanting to build an online business.
Wow! I think I should've seen this message years ago. My associates at the times I had first started working at my own business just told me "Don't quit". It would have been nice to have agreed on some parameters. It's more humane. Also gets you to focus on why you're in business in the first place.
I agree, Fran! It's clear cut, so you quit or you quit not. and no guilt, what ifs, or maybe I shouldas... it becomes part of the plan!
