Look-In magazine dated February 19th, 1972. KIM KICKS OFF Bloomfield and Burfield have more in common than the fact that they both sound alike. The first is the title of a new film distributed by 20th Century-Fox. The second - Burfield - happens to be the young star appearing in it. If the name hasn't already struck a bell with you, just put 'Cheryl' in front of it and you have one of the stars of ATV's series 'Timeslip'. Now replace Cheryl with 'Kim' and you have her younger brother, who makes his first appearance in a full-length feature film. Set in Tel Aviv, Israel, the story is steeped in soccer. Kim plays the role of Nimrod, a young, freckle-faced football fanatic who prefers a kick-around to school homework and, not surprisingly, it lands him in trouble with his dad. So, with boots and ball, Nimrod decides to hit the road to football fame and fortune. He plans to travel to Brazil, South America, after his trip to Jaffa to see his idol Eitan, an aging soccer star played by Richard Harris. It's Eitan's last game and Nimrod doesn't want to miss the chance to see him in action. But things don't quite work out the way Nimrod expects. Hardly believing his luck, he pals up with Eitan before the big match. But the boy slowly begins to realise that his new found friend might not be all that he thought he was.

Of the film, Kim Burfield was very enthusiastic when he talked to Look-In during an exclusive interview. LOOK-IN: What do you think of the film's location? KIM: Israel was fabulous. The sun; swimming and film crew were all great. LOOK-IN: Was there any particular incident you remember? KIM: We saw plenty of soldiers - and giant trucks carrying tanks towards the Suez Canal. LOOK-IN: How did you feel about co-starring with Richard Harris? KIM: He was marvellous. He's a great actor and I like to think that one day I might be as good. LOOK-IN: Why was the title 'Bloomfield'? KIM: In the film, that is the name of the football stadium. But it really is called that after its owners, Bloomfield. LOOK-IN: Nimrod shows an obvious dislike for homework. What do you think of school in real life? KIM: I don't like it very much, except for general knowledge lessons. LOOK-IN: What else don't you like? KIM: Having my hair combed. LOOK-IN: Do you have any favourite foods? KIM: Yes, everything with chips, fish and chips, for example, provided they're eaten out of the paper. They don't taste so nice on a plate. LOOK-IN: Which actors or actresses do you like? KIM: Richard Harris, of course. Then I like Shirley Temple in her child parts. LOOK-IN: Do you follow a football team? KIM: Yes, Chelsea.

I was strangely semi obsessed with this flic introduced to me by my mom and veiwed years later upon release. I was maybe 5 or 6 and born one year after it’s release. It still boggles my mind .
