Hello, I've been playing and working with electronics for over 50 years. In that time I've worked as an Electronic Technician and various fields of Computer Engineering. I enjoy building things and love putting electronics into hobby models and other projects.
Please enjoy my eclectic collection of projects.

Development board programming cables
These cables were made to support my development boards that are used for adding electronics to scale model builds or other areas where a compact SOC is needed. By eliminating the programming socket it keeps the board as small as possible for placement in confined areas.
There are three cables available for:
ICSP programming cable for the older 6-pin Arduino ICSP. It uses a spring loaded soft-touch (ST) 6-pin header that only needs to touch the ICSP pad for programming.
UPDI programming cable for the newer AVR parts. It uses a spring loaded soft-touch (ST) 6-pin header that only needs to touch the ICSP pad for programming.
UPDI programming cable for the newer AVR parts. It uses a spring loaded soft-touch (ST) 3-pin header that only needs to touch the UPDI pad for programming.

Assembly of the TP4057 Lipo Battery Charger Board
Переглядів 11321 день тому
The TP4057 Lipo Battery Charger Board is used to charge various lithium polymer or "Lipo" batteries. It supports single-cell lithium-ion or lithium polymer batteries and has an adjustable current setting from 50ma to 500 ma. This works great for most of the batteries needed for smaller projects easily up to 1 amp if needed. The board uses a common anode dual color LED, or individual LED's, to s...

If possible make a tiny fm transmitter!!
Interesting, use case for it?
@@Johnny_Electronic no use case! moreover in some country it is illegal (short range is legal). just a personal diy project ig!!
Johnny Electronic, great video keep it up bro
Thanks, will do 👍
I was hoping this would involve electrical tape and maybe a new bulb or battery. When you pulled out your schematic, I was out. 🤣🤣 #communicationmajor
Yeap, I was surprised as well. I think I mentioned that in the video. Especially with the 555 timer. Kudos to Hallmark for doing a nice design.
Where can I get one of these
Kits are still on eBay but expensive.
That’s beyond awesome! Just the amount of wiring is amazing! That you made a working display and added sound is fantastic! I concur with the group. If you don’t build sf model props for a living, you should!
Thank you very much!
WOW that is impressive, I remember building the original model in 1982 and would have been blown away to see something like this.
Thanks
Just found you johnny. Impressive work! When i was a kid i was glued to the tv whenever BSG came on. You built it better than the show😮
Thanks, I was a fan of BSG, Buck, TOS. Anything Sci-Fi or Horror. The nostalgia sticks around.
There are no words........except FRAK!!
Yes, thank you. FRAK'n a Right! Seriously I loved all the BSG series and I'm glad I could make something worthy.
I’m glad to see someone bring in advancements from other modeling hobbies to enhance another. I see components commonly found in modern HO scale locomotives that’s made huge improvements to our hobby. I tip my hat to you sir.
Well thank you sir, much appreciated. It all started with Christine and now I can merge my two favorite hobbies and like you said there always ways for one to improve another.
Super cool! I've seen detailed electronics mods before, but you took the miniaturization and detail to a whole other level. My first concern was "With this complexity, how's he going to service anything?" but then you showed a few spots to make it accessible. I think this is probably my favorite conversions that I've seen. Keep up the great work and I've subscribed so I can hopefully see more.
Wow, thanks. I really appreciate that. I bought this kit a few years ago and started on the display right away as a proof of concept. I was really happy with the result but it was another year and half before I started the full build. This kit has some great options too bad it is out of production. I do try to add some uniqueness to the builds and I have a few more planned in the BSG world.
Awesome
Thanks
@@Johnny_Electronic 😁
Un gran trabajo 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Muchas gracias
Amazing great job !
Thank you! Cheers!
Incredible work!
Thanks a lot!
nice classic model!
It really is. Glad you liked it.
Your Viper is beyond outstanding. i just wish i could find one. I built the original monogram kit that didn't even have a pilot 20 years ago I would definitely be interested in buying a kit from you to do this
Yeah, thought about getting another. Best deals so far on eBay are around $90-100. I was able to get a Mk-II and Mk-VII to complete the group. Future projects. I'm glad you enjoyed the build and I appreciate the compliments.
Wow, excellent work, amazing. I've met like 4 or 5 of the actors of this series.
That's awesome! BSG is just one of those classic series that sticks with you. Thanks.
Absolutely incredible! Great job!
Thanks a lot!
Impressive, really impressive
Thank you.
Looks superb all round... Great weathering too!
Thanks. I appreciate the compliment. These builds are so fun for me not only for the electronics but I can mess them up (ie: Weather and battle damage).
What a result.luv it. 😊😊
Thank you! 😊
You need to take care of that light leak in the upper housing
Yes, thanks for pointing that out.
Just amazing.
Thanks, appreciate it.
What a fantastic job!! I am totally in awe!
Thank you so much!
This is *_BEYOND_* cool! 😮😯😲 👍👌✌️
Thanks so much.
Wow! Impressive!
Thank you! Cheers!
Very cool man , the original series was most excellent . Nice to see some nostalgic models . I had that model ... and the Cylon raider also .
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks.
Awesome 😮
Thanks 🤗
THis is the best think I have see on the internet amazzing work and really nice paint job . PS I am a painter and builder my self so can really appreciate the work it takes to get this all in and make it look good
Wow, thanks! I'm really happy with the results. My best so far. Looks like you have quite the collection of Iron Man figures, nice display.
Wow...brilliant work.
Thanks a lot 😊
Excellent work. Thank you for sharing. greetings from Germany
Many thanks!
Excellent work. Thank you for sharing. greetings from Germany
Greetings to you too. Thanks for the compliment
I like the part at the end with terrorizing the kitty. That was fun.
Yeap, keeping my helpers on their toes, ah paws. Thanks
an amazing blend of technology and artistry
Thanks, I appreciate it.
That’s Fraking incredible!! Well done 👍🏼
Thanks a ton! Glad you enjoyed it.
Excellent work and also your presentation. I honestly wasn't expecting to be that exciting. 👌The Viper is just iconic. Next stop, the Viper's precursor, the Starfighter 1314 from Buck Rogers in the 25th Century perhaps...? 😁
Totally iconic, I do like your Buck Rogers idea. Probably harder to get than the Vipers. Thanks for the compliments.
That's impressive
Thank you.
Wow
Thanks
Awesome 👍
Thanks 🤗
Impressive
Thanks
This is super cool - really nice job on the electronics. Throw it up against a green screen and do some passes with a camera and you'd probably look better than the original series!
Exactly, I almost did that for this one. Glad you liked it.
Just came across your build video of the Mk 1 Viper. I would like to ask if you would share your arduino sketch you used on your build. Thank you for posting your build 🙂👍
I've not set up a Git account yet but send me an email and I'll send you the files.
@@Johnny_Electronic Thank you for responding back to my message and to sharing your arduino sketch. Could you tell where I may find your e-mail address? Thanks again 🙂
Hmm, I thought it was viewable from the about link. Anyway I actually got a git account setup so here you go: github.com/JohnnyElectronic/BSG_Colonial_Viper_Mk1
Thats a brilliant build.Ive got the other vipers, but not this one.Prices for these in the uk are sky high.Your electronic knowledge is amazing.I can only do a few simple fibre optic set ups
I know, I was looking for a kit of any of the other Mk's but not many around and expensive. I'd love to do another of these, very fun build. Thanks.
Hi Johnny, your quality, and level of detail is the greatest I have ever seen. I recently purchased a breadboard Arduino kit to try and learn the basics in order just to add a just a couple micro LEDs here and there. And I thought a couple LEDs and a couple resistors and a button battery and switch was going to be pretty special. After watching this video, IMHO, this very well could be the standard by which to go by. I went back to search through your old videos to see what else you have done. The millennium Falcon is also amazing. I only wish you had more of your model kit mods to look through. Please keep up the great work, and hopefully the googlehimer brain box algorithm will push your videos for more to see. Would you be willing to e-chat for questions etc re electronic circuits? Cheers, KJ
Thank you so much, glad you liked the video. It's getting allot of attention. I'm sure I'll have more videos coming but this one will be hard to top. I started it during the covid years getting the electrical sorted and board designs then when I finished the falcon I jumped right in on the model assembly. Feel free to reach out, I'm always happy to help and I certainly like talking electronics or model building.
@@Johnny_ElectronicShall I give you my email? I think it would be easier to talk about electronics. KJ
gotta say, excellent ingenuity and work. makes me appreciate the work of jerry Andersons animatronics, xle, thunderbirds, captain scarlet, what they did with ole skool tech was outstanding.
Thanks for the complement. There is so much more that can be done now that was not possible in years past. Just having a wide range of LED sizes alone makes lighting more manageable.
Great work and thanks for sharing the tips. I always struggle when it comes to electrical connections resistors etc...
Thanks for the compliment and I'm glad you liked the video. Keep at it and it should get easier with practice.
@@Johnny_Electronic I have a tuff time figuring out the resistance and such...
If it is just for the LED's, Light House LED has a nice table for 2v and 3v LED's that make it easy to select a resistor value. Here is an example, click on the quick selection guide. lighthouseleds.com/3mm-led-orange-ultra-bright-15-000-mcd.html
Thanks I will check it out.@@Johnny_Electronic
Amazing work!
Thanks a lot!
Amazing model dude excellent job
Thanks a lot, I appreciate the comment.
Im in awe dude. Amazing. If you dont work in films you should...scifi needs real props like yours, not cgi tinsel
LOL, thanks for the comment. I do like scifi allot but I'm still working on the artistic side. I just love what everyone is doing with weathering these days. So much more than just putting a model together.
@@Johnny_Electronic absolutely. Its that extra realisim that makes the scale believable. Gets harder and more skillful as the scale decreases though!
You are so right!
Good job 👍💪
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it.
