Anisa Varasteh: The Psychology of Seduction | Reloscope #63
Dancing in the murky waters of seduction-where desire meets deception-often goes far beyond a couple of amusing lines. So, this week on Reloscope: The Relationships Science Insights Podcast, host Marie Stella is joined by sexologist Anisa Varasteh for psychological insights and expert advice on how to speak the language of seduction.
As a sexologist, Anisa Varasteh works with her clients to discover and re-discover what is fulfilling, meaningful and pleasurable for them. Offering services in both English and Persian, she supports her clients with their relationships, sense of identity, sex life, and everything in between.
In this grappling episode, Anisa breaks down the process of seduction into six digestible steps, expertly elaborating on the psychological factors that come into play. While highlighting the effectiveness of body language, she stresses on the importance-and attractiveness-of verbal consent. Together, Marie and Anisa discuss preemptive ways to build confidence before flirting.
From subtle cues to power plays, this episode promises to be enlightening for natural charmers and awkward communicators alike.

It's not the corpus coliseum where we have those reptilian survival urges, it's the limbic system, specifically the amygdala. The corpus coliseum is more mechanical engaging the brain stem with the neural connections and messages from the different areas of the cerebellum and limbic system.

Hi Natalie, thanks for your question & apologies for the delay! My understanding of ROCD is that there is consistent doubt and ambivalence that is felt about self or the other. There may be doubts about attraction, compatibility, love and attempts to make sense of what constitutes a positive and successful relationship. When anxiety is contributing to the interactions and dynamic, particularly at this ROCD level, it can be confusing and distressing for both partners as it can be more difficult to calm the nervous system and thought patterns. I have not had any experiences with ROCD, so I would not be able to offer accurate information and reflections. To your question, if one is secure and the other is avoidant, I would assume that the secure partner would be relatively comfortable in letting their avoidant partner know of their specific needs around connection, availability and intimacy. If that is expressed in a regulated way without blame or accusations, then typically an avoidant person would potentially feel safer and more willing to lean in and hear their partner's needs. I came across this link that offers more detail for ROCD that you may find helpful. Thank you. impulsetherapy.com/the-ultimate-rocd-guide-treatment-symptoms-causes/

What about the issue of ROCD in a relationship when one is secure and the other an avoidant?

Very insightful interview particularly how early attachment styles contribute or set up how we deal with commitment in relationships and how different techniques (ie Pause) change our internal structures to help reflection on what's being triggered
