It is disheartening to think this man's talent and total mastery of his artistry gathers a mere 625 likes, while click baiters, standing on their heads, while scantily clad receive 7 million likes. Really? I mean it..... Really? Chris appears to play and perform 'effortlessly', yet those of us who know what hours it takes to get to this level of musicianship, know better. Chris embodies one of the great paradoxes of life: joy releases from sorrow. I just heard T-bone Burnett explain why he landed on the idea that we live in a world that has been stolen by the notion that we live in a "dystopia". I suppose Chris would be getting 7 million hits if we lived in a utopia. "Blues run the game",..some 60's folksinger once claimed. Man,oh man, was he right. I fell out named Brown, sang the lyrics:"it's a messed up world but I love it anyway!" I remember the expression:..."don't take it to heart". Does anybody else remember this expression?

Mr Steele -- thank you for this! I just looked him/them up out of the blue. I'm very ill now and older, and I remember seeing the band in 1975 at Gladstones (was only about 15!) John made me feel so much better about my life. I listened at Swifts, with Chuck, and it was about the only live music i saw. I hated country music but like he said, his band wasn't easy to define. Anyway thanks for posting this --- you made an old fan happy to see his handsome face again and hear that unique voice unlike any other I've ever heard! ❤ 🎶

My one and only encounter with The Shaw Brothers (not a pleasant experience). It was so long ago now (1992 or so) at a local community festival. I was hired to videotape the event and one act in particular, The Shaw Brothers. It was a multi-day event and on the day of the Shaw Brothers performance (prior to) I needed to inform them of something related to where I would be setting up. So there they were at the venue sitting at the edge of the stage by themselves, I approached and said politely, "Hello, excuse me but I..." and they just tore into me, I'll never forget it, I walked away thinking what assholes. I forget now the exact exchange with them, but it was shocking, they were horrible. That day I caught a glimpse not of their smiling stage presence but probably who they really were.

Hey Andy. If you see this just gotta tell you that your album Resolution got me through the US Army 1977. I found it in my PX store and grabbed it cause I loved the cover. And man Treasure that canary became one of my favorite songs ever. Till this day the ending is one of the most amazing sounds I've ever heard. Perhaps cause of my love of the Beach Boys and Brian's falsetto. Your voice actually hits higher notes than any Brian Wilson song. I moved on to Punk and Indie music in 79 but Resolution is still one of my all time favorite albums. Treasure that canary is in my all time top 50 songs and I have a huge library. Thank-you!
