    How do they decide what African name to give them? Do they choose random African names?

    • @sompa1049
      @sompa1049 7 місяців тому

      Among the ashantis, astrology is embedded in the daily life, so the day a person is born determines a lot of that person's personality. So the Child comes with thier name based on the day they arrive. Subsequent names are added based on significant things happening in the lives of family when the child arrives. Example a male child born on Friday in a period of war will be named "kofi Bediako" literary he that came on Friday to fight war" alternatively a female born on the Saturday Prior to Akwasidae (Akan holy day of veneration) will be called Ama Dapaah (she that came on a Good saturday)

      @@sompa1049 Thank you for answering my question. But how do they determine their names if it’s an African American adult? Do they ask them questions about their zodiac sign? Do they make a birth chart or a natal chart?

    It's nice but the akans are taking more credit of cashing inn with the diasporas coming to GH,they needs to be going to other parts of GH regions,most of the slaves were captured in other ethnic groups during tribal wars that akans and Ashantis benefits from from gun powder

      I don't think you really know the history of slave trade. Asante kingdom was was established after over hundred years of slavery (first slaves arrived in the United States. The whole West and Central Africa were affected.

      @@kwekuegyirdadzie3284 The Portuguese arrived in Ghana in 1471. Slave trade started around 1600. The first slaves arrived in the US in 1619. Asante Empire was established in 1701 (100 years after slave trade began). It was abolished in 1807. Fact check before you argue.

      It's a myth the Asantes sold or benefited from slavery in fact the Asantes were expansionists, they were more interested in enlarging their group with other ethnic groups and were unwittingly drawn into enslaving because of attacks on them, please do some research but I suggest you read "How Europe Underdeveloped Africa by Walter Rodney.
