Metal Reign is an srb2 story mod demo thing, at the moment, featuring 10 levels, original music, and half a story.
this is a remix of the _second_ original song i've ever made, back in 2019. like act 1, it used to be just a midi file, like all of my old songs.

so, back when i made this, it was when the game was "Zane and Ares" (i promise this is relevant to the song structure) a concept in which my oc (zane) and my best friend's oc (ares) went on an adventure to take down neo metal sonic. this eventually evolved into metal reign, in which instead of some ocs taking on... ooh. ive said a bit much.
so. this song, for Z&A, used to have two versions of itself. one for ares was slower, had a ghz adjacent middle section; one for zane was faster, had a finale adjacent b section. i composed both.
like act 1, i'd made another version of it, similar to the act 1 up on the channel. it sucked. a lot. was pretty much just a midislap of my own song onto a project with STH Instruments.sf2.
i decided, for this song's remix, to mash em both together.
0:00 to 0:36 was part of both versions.
0:36 to 0:40 is original.
0:40-1:01 is also original. came up with this part on the fly on a treacherous walk home.
1:02-1:23 is taken from the zane version. also showed up as a reference in an old version of virtualtale's ybn, "Our Best Curse". odd, considering ares was the flowey and zane was the chara. while i do know the reasoning behind it, still a weird decision. you can tell i wasn't always... here...
1:23-1:44 is mostly original (well, disregarding the act 2-ification of bbz's melody), but has hints of zane's version sprinkled in the chimes. reverse this and you'll find something cheeky.
1:44-2:06 is from ares' version. this was heavily reharmonized to become the motif we all know and love today. bbz2 is the first place in which it was ever made, and me getting to add it in this mix in its fully realized form is a sort of catharsis i never imagined.
2:06-2:16 is from both versions. ares' ended with this in full instrumentation, drums and all. zane's ended with this in pianos. i did a little bit of both for this one. im a genius.
