Adding a digital voltmeter to any Astron power supply

You can add them to virtually any model Astron power supply, metered or non-metered. Takes less than one hour for a DYI. You can get these on ebay for about $10, by doing an ebay search for "motorcycle voltmeter". This is a tribute to my Yellow Lab, Bomber. He was truly man's best friend. He was born in January 2000, and was laid to rest in December 2010. I miss him dearly. A true treasure of a dog. This was taken in the summer of 2010, a few months before he was laid to rest.
Do you know if there's an Add-on Meter that does BOTH Voltage and Amps for the Astron?

Why add this digital meter? Make me wonder if the owner can read to standard meters assuming the PS has those.
Can a combination voltage/ ammeter be installed? How would it be hooked up? (Just saw one on FeePay...)

I put one of these on my non-metered Astron, thanks to this video. Works great!
Those voltmeters work very well. Be advised though that the double-sided tape is fairly permanent. Trying to pry the meter off the panel will result in the back of the meter breaking off. WIth that result, it still works!
Hi. I have a Astron RM-12A. It has a power switch on the front that kinda flickers. Any thoughts on what could cause this and if it will be an issue? Asking because I had the supply randomly turn off. I unplugged it and waited plugged it back in and it works again. Appreciate any insight you can give.
No. Do not worry about it.
It is a neon bulb and as they age they start flickering and often eventually quit working completly.
Great job done on that one. I got ripped off bought the 60th Anniversary Version of the TS-590SG. The Pre-owner of the Radio replaced the Original Kenwood TCXO-SO3 with the Cheap Shit Chinese Version for 15.- bucks. Thx for sharing this video. Hope to talk on the Bands soon. 73's de Günter

Maybe the original Kenwood TCXO-SO3 wasn't there in the first place? From what I hear, some of the Chinese versions work just as good.

The wooden table he has should be covered with antistatic rubber mat which should also be strapped. Kenwood should sit on this matt. W/o this wrist strap is ineffective.

As a follow up 1 month later, this oscillator is right on the money. Most QSOs are locked in on the .00 freq. I used any QSOs that were on freqs ending in .00 or .05. Before, I was always 100 Hz high. Not no more. It is right on the money,.
Can you help, please? I've just got myself a new TS-590SG & I'm pretty happy with it. With RF gain on FM mode, though, I'm finding it doesn't attenuate signals at all. It only cuts them off suddenly & completely when wound fully CCW. Do you know how to get this to operate normally, please?

It is nice that you have this video to remember Bomber by. I did not think I would ever get over my first lab's passing....Guthrie had big shoes to fill. If you haven't I hope you'll be able to allow another Lab into your heart. They truly are angels here on earth.
