Simple Hyundai Elantra 2019 - 2020 headlight bulb replacement
Переглядів 23 тис.5 років тому
Because Hyundai doesn't want us to be able to replace our headlight bulbs easily. You know, because it's not a legal or safety issue when we're driving at night. I was given the recommendation to go through the wheel well, I did and it was reasonable enough (given that Hyundai thinks it's unreasonable to replace our own headlight bulbs...) I made this video to point out it was actually a pretty...

To be certain -- there's definitely not enough room even if you unclip the headlight power plug that's over the dust cap?
Ralphie! Brilliant! Great video! Video quality needs work but holy moley It looks like your method gains you the easiest access to the insanely inaccessible headlight bulbs for a changeout. I'm not going the LED bulb route like some on here but I'm upgrading the wife's commuter car's headlight bulbs to Sylvania 9005 "purple box" that'll give her better visibility without blinding drivers in oncoming cars. I bought a trim kit with pry tool on Scamazon in case I mess up the plastic trim pins. But It looks like driver side, turn the tires all the way to the right, remove trim plugs, gain access, reach up inside, change bulb. Lather, rinse Repeat for passenger side but turn the wheel all the way to the left. Some of the videos on here showed guys removing the entire front end of the car, bumper and all, to gain access to the rear of the headlight assemblies. Oy caramba! THANK YOU; you saved me a lot of time and aggita, especially on Christmas weekend! Merry Christmas!
thanks for the video. i went up with my hand and the darn black cap still wont budge when i turn it..any suggestions?
Some thing on 2008 accord. What were they thinking designing this...
That they wanted more money. But as someone that thinks simple safety items should be easy, this is one of those areas they shouldn't have the bottom line in mind.
Hmm my comment disappeared so I'll try again. Since this LED headlamp is no longer sold which one do you recommend now?
I have not used another company, so I'm not a reliable source for a different brand. Unfortunately
I’m getting rid of this turd, great video though
What about removing the fuse box for space?
I'm sure that would help. But this is so quick that taking the time to remove the fuse box, then remount it, would take longer.
Yeah it's quick this way but the bulb fell inside 😭😭😭😭😭
couldnt see anything he did.
Hate how many plastic covers and junk are in new cars, thankyou for the help
Having a hard time loosing the connectors. Any suggestions ?
I haven't done this since I made this video, if I remember correctly, it's all by feel. Plastic doesn't really corrode like metal does, so if they are stuck it could be that the metal in the connector is corroded together.
@@ralphlongo1975 Thank you for the response. I guess I’ll have to stick to the factory headlights
This video taught me that I shouldn't try this. Thanks!
Everyone has something they are good at, we are always better off knowing our limits on the things we are not. Don't let someone charge you a ton to do this, the official factory stuff has them taking off the front bumper cover, don't let them charge you for that time frame. Show them this video if they complain 😃
@@ralphlongo1975 Thanks Ralph! Told my family that I must be maturing because I decided I would break something trying this, lol. Will stick to technology!
nice video with good info, sorry about the Parkinsons.
🤣 I appreciate that
Thanks for the video man it made a lot easier to change my cars headlight bulb
I'm glad it helped you, when I uploaded it there wasn't any other videos on the subject, so I hoped it would help others.
My high beams was replaced by dealer for free. It was recall. Thank you for video anyway.
Hey bro would you be able to sell me this
Unfortunately, it was gone right after I posted this.
Good to know. What a pain though. Wonder what shop rate is.
Shop rate? It's just like the rent. It's too damn high.
Do you turn the bulb itself or unclip it first?
What headlights do you use? The one we tried didn’t work
I use these. They have a set screw on a flange that can move the LED position, I set it next to the factory headlights and put the LED at the same place as those then installed them. Light years better than the factory lights were. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07HQ972VG?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title#aw-udpv3-customer-reviews_feature_div
@@ralphlongo1975 These are no longer available. Which bulbs do you recommend now? I was looking at a few on Amazon but worried about the 1 star reviews mentioning overheating, flickering and going out too quickly. I bought Sylvania Xtravisions (halogen) and they're not bright enough at all. However I don't want them to blind other drivers on the road either which is what one 1 star review said about Fahren Termitor LED bulbs. Can you also clarify what you said about "set screw on flange that can move the LED position"? Is this something you have to do or optional? Great video.
Thanks for the video, changed out my daughters headlights today. I would likely not have tackled this job if I had to remove the bumper.
Glad I could help, I couldn't believe that it was this difficult to actually do. I would have been upset if I had to remove the bumper to switch out a headlight.
hallo ralph,, do you have a diagram schematics / service manual for nakamichi pa300?. i have nakamichi pa300ii. my problem is, when i give inpute 12v fuse always broken.. thanks..
Unfortunately I do not, I picked this up used myself.i have not powered mine up, but the fuse was broken on mine as well.
Hi there question I have the same unit along with alpine double din with ai-net supported to g era-320 but not too sure how to connect my entire system which I will be adding 2 amps for front rear output and sub output. Do I just need to run ai-net wire to rear trunk and connect the amps thru the g era-unit

Have you ever had any issues with the low beams working (but seem dim) but no high beams? That's what mine is doing, wouldn't think its a lightbulb as its less than a year old
My high beams do not work in any way that I would call them working. My low beam dimness was taken care of by my LED conversion, mine were basically non existent before switching. It's crazy that the lights have so many issues, but the car is overall a good car that I do like.
Just tested the relay though and it’s fine. It’s bugging the crappppp out of me.
So yes, I had/have the same issues with my setup.
@@Ravioli74020 I don't believe it is a problem that can be solved by replacing parts, I think it's a fault with the headlight setup. I don't know how base model yours is, but I'm convinced they punished people that bought the base models lol. Like cruise control didn't come on my car, I was upset about that until I saw that I could simply switch the non cruise control plate with the one with it, it worked fine without doing anything but that, it's probably a part that costs them 10 cents more than the mostly blank one. I assume I'm being punished with the lights too, after the LED upgrade I didn't worry too much about the brights, in my situation I didn't need them. Where I used to live would have been a problem though.
Our high beams crapped out too a couple years back, thankfully during the extended warranty period. Dealership was not happy but they had to change out the entire headlight assemblies, each side. I think I read online somehwere the high beams are a factory recall issue now.
Dude you're the MAN!! Thank you for the help 👍
I can not take credit for the idea, but there wasn't a single video in the subject when I posted this one. I'm so glad it helped you out.
Thanks a lot brother. Saved me time.
Glad it helped
Thanks. Crazy how complicated it is.
macmillian designed amps have always been the shit since PPI AM PROMOS and ART Series.
Thank you so much for the video! 👍
You're absolutely welcome, it frustrated me a lot so I figured it would help someone else.
@@ralphlongo1975 It absolutely did, I can't thank you enough! Without this way I would have to pay the dealership for simple headlights change or remove the whole bumper. But now I managed to switch them myself in less than 10mins!
Thanks a lot I change mines today! !
You're welcome, I'm glad I could help out.
Thank you for this video been waiting for this for months. Is this same process on the passenger side? By the way what’s the bulb size? Cheers
I don't remember the bulb size, I'm sorry, the procedure is exactly the same on both sides though.
I believe they’re 9005
9005
i dont know how to thank you, you were absolutely right, the driver side headlight bulb removal is almost impossible, till you figured out this way. I was waiting for a removal video for months. If you can re-make the video more stable and focused, and show how you removed and replaced. I am pretty sure you get thousands of views from all over the world
I would love to take credit for it, it was not my find though. I was looking for the same answer and was coming up with nothing at all then a gentleman on Facebook pointed out he did it like this. I searched for the real answer for a while then decided to try it this crazy way and it worked very well lol (I had to tell him sorry I thought he was crazy.) It was never meant for UA-cam, I made this for an Elantra Facebook page and decided to throw it up here too. I doubt I will ever make it nicer, just out of laziness.
I saw another guy removed his entire bumber to change the bulb. People will be thankful if you made the video. Saves everyones time.
@@sheegal I saw that too, I felt bad he didn't see my video before he attacked it. I was told the dealerships pull off the bumper too, that is so much work when it's this easy.
Manufacturers are doing this stuff on purpose. Like on my Rav4: I was going to change the spark plugs myself, the four up front were easy to get to, but they put two of them all the way in the back, and it would've required taking the manifold off, so I had a shop do it.
Agreed, they make money when you have to bring it back in.
I was able to get my LEDs in without taking anything extra off. Took some time and just my finger tips.
Which LEDs did u get? Also where did you get them and the price? I was thinking of getting some
I tried really hard and I think I can do the passenger side, but my wife is going to help me do the driver's side since it's her car. If I have to I'll go through the wheel well, which isn't a big deal, that's how I do my fog lights on my Rav4.
adam smith i just did mine today and it took me about 20 minutes to do both. I went through the fender well on the driver side and that helped so much
ay dude...good twerk except the dimensions ended up no good huh? Also...jesus that music is terrible please stop it you are too white :P hahahaha jk I see you have liked some interesting things regarding race, etc... too so I'm just messin around bc that stuff is wild to read/listen about but on the serious note... MY CB need a SHORT THRROOOO hahaha, jk on that too...you know I think a lot of dudes think short throw equals sweet looking short shift knob....not the case though as you have found out...it's all about that pivot point and when using the original shaft like you have that becomes interesting, SO questions: How's your boot pleather hahahaha? it gonna make it? How did it fit together (well or not) in terms of you CUTTING YOUR DAMN RETAINER PIECE jESUS just to get that bolt to slide by? Is your console ok? AND...how sweet is it to have a shorter throw doe now you jacked up the points? I bet it made the jerry rigging and boot catching worth it...or is it not possible to run it with the boot on and so you have a gaping hole still? ANd what about did you use the same bushings holding the cotterpin side and the bolt side together? Because it looks like you basically attached the old points to new fangled made points...so do your new points also have rubber washers at least or something? Not tryin to bust your nuts...that is actually a pretty sweet DIY job....ALSO...how did you manage the bolt on bits? I don't see weld marks and looks like you just machined out some blocks of aluminum or something...talk to me Ralphy...don't shoot that eye out just yet hahaha thanks dude, sincerely Your 9th sub hahahaha
I'm too engaged in political crap, as if it matters what I believe lol. My racism standpoint is contrary to the political left, I lived in Whiteyville for a long time, after living in a fairly mixed area in my youth. I expected racism EVERYWHERE, to be honest it was just a few morons. So take that as you want, my son that still lives in the area I grew up in disagrees with me. I think we all see what we are looking for, I'm just as guilty as anyone. The boot did rip, it was WAY more of a hack job than you made it out to be lol. It absolutely felt amazing, was a hair notchy but I had to sell it before i got to that. I do believe that I could have worked that out, if I had another shifter like this, I would do it again but with better materials. This was more a proof of concept, I just never got to make it right. The write-up is here themoneypits.weebly.com/cb7-short-shifter.html
How am I only seeing this 1 year later? Sorry about that.
