I've spent too much of life watching the video... and I'm English 😂

From a story and cinematography perspective this is one of the best endings in a film hands down. The centering of the shot to get the mirror so both parties are visible is fantastic for displaying the emotion of the scene; and the cut to credits immediately after Pierce disappears from view is subtle but elegant. To many films rely on pantomime nowadays to display raw emotion; but if something is complicated like a sad yet happy moment it just doesn't work and comes off as insincere. I miss when movies could be both a thinker and deal with cool themes.

Watched this after listening to The Flophouse episode on it; First impression is, yeah, I can see why this bombed. Nothing to do with how batshit weird it is... Howard isn't likeable. He just shits on everyone with weak quips, and mostly seems like an asshole.

I wonder if Christopher Lee recorded Haggard's death scream again for the German version...
