Keep going, sis!! I finally tapered at 5mg... I've been clean for 699 days... which was my last fet OD, and subsequently my last use. The clinic saved my life, they cheered me on through my entire journey. Doing 5mg, literally the size of a pen tip of liquid, kicked my ass for 3 weeks. I white knuckled that shit, insomnia,sweats, both ends angry, electric fence on every nerve,bone and muscle,couldn't work, so on and so forth. BUT... We survived this shit. And having gone through both methadone withdrawals, precipitated WD's and just plain dopesick, is enough to make me NEVER. EVER even consider having to go through that again. Not to mention life is fucking good. Healthy is good. Shit is so terrifying and dangerous out there now, there is no desire or craving for a high anymore. Anyways, enjoy your freedom and getting healthy. 💜

I think a good percentage of us that was on methadone milked the system for as much methadone as we can get but i got to a point where they just kept upping and upping my dose even though i wanted to start to taper down but they were not having it! I save my doses as many as possible for a couple months and quit the clinic and tapered myself off of methadone. 3-4 month taper and had hardly any side effects

I'm a methadone addict since I was 16 also heroin alcohol from Dublin Ireland now 44 and I'm in terror the whitdrall is brutal my legs are giving out haven't slept in week's if I can do any can,the alcohol is more horror pain is gain in the long run but the pain has me gone 😢

I can't tell you how many times I was locked up and had no other choice but to go cold turkey. Between doctors and clinics about a dozen or so. The worst part about detoxing in a parish prison is the lack of access to clean spring water, fresh air, grass under your feet, fresh juices to stay properly hydrated, ect... I knew 4 people, two male and two female MMT patients , all over the age of 50 who died within their first two weeks of incarceration via stroke/heart attack probably from dehydration but their DC doesn't reflect that, only the stroke. I was about 30 when all of this was going on with me so I was young enough but it's a real danger once your into your 40's. One of the females had a benzo prescription so you can flip a coin on that one but the other three were non smokers and all were long time patients of MMT. Luckly some states are dosing patients who were on a MMT program when arrested but that will never happen here in the deep south

Day 7 of nothing i've been clean for 8 years the only thing holding to my past was methadone i thought i was alone but now i know theirs so many people like me. ready to get off but i got this it gets dark when i'm alone ik i gotta change that. So i just get little wins everyday (like taking a shower playiing with me kids working out B/C methadone is stored iin your fat so i push myself to go on a walk or lift weights) stick to a route and follow it. Ill find the light at the end of this i have to. When i got sober i became a firefighter emt. Their for a min i had bad thought like i was their for so many people and no one is coming for me. ususally if ur only lame 6mg metha u should've changed to subutex...then the rest ,this stuff makes u getting off of metha...(taking like ~2mg for a week and taper down and all should be fine)

Sunshine, Pure morning fresh air, exercise, 8-10 hours sleep 9pm bed time. Diet is also is key. Gut health broad spectrum pre and pro biotics . Plant based organic diet with kamut grains ,lentils, variety of beans nuts, beans cut sugar, use maple syrup if you must and some unpasteurized honey . Also ground flax seed in smoothies for cell repair and brain health and ground chia. Take Fulvic and humic acid is what i did fulvic remineralizes , humic pulls out toxins and saunas w hot then cold showers right after. And temperence in all things good. I was addicted to fentanyl. I was taking 30 to 40 of the counterfeit blue oxy 30s a day. Because of a bad spinal injury from work, I got on methadone to get off them. I was on 100 milligrams a day for 2 months and did a rapid tapered because I risked losing my job. I went from from a 100 milligrams to 10 milligrams in about 13 days and the withdrawals were horrible. I didn’t sleep for 3 days I had severe tremors cold sweats nausea, muscle cramps, bone aches, my hands swelled up, where I had a hard time closing them and I went to work the entire time since I work and my 8 month pregnant fiancé stays home. After about 7 days I felt better the hardest part was continuing to go to work with the withdrawals. I work in concrete so I lift over 100 pounds at a time. I definitely don’t wanna do that again.

I'm terrified. Been on it for around 20 years, 39 now almost 40. Not been on a set amount because i also buy it. Spent thousands over the years even having sometimes 300ml in a day. I've had enough now and I'm starting to take 80ml a day once a day then when I'm stable on that I'll reduce but I'm scared that I've destroyed my bodies way of surviving normally by being on it so long.

Hey, I hope all is well with you. How many MG did you come down at a time when tapering? I was on 170 and I'm down to 40. I go down 2mg a week for a month and then take a break. I only go in once a month. This is a slow process bc I have children to take car of so I can't be sick and in bed or what not. Can't wait to be off.

Well she was on serequal which is takin for bipolar and antiphyscotic drug. Taking that will fukkkk your enotions up so alot of these symptoms shes still feeling is from the seroquil too.

A lot of rehabs do use benzos for methadone withdrawal soci dont think you should shame people for needing it. Ive been on serquel and benzos and withdrawn from both and id take benzos over sequel anytime!

I am on Methadone...Ive been there too and i will *never ever* do drugs again. But I have been on Benzos for 25 years anyway. But the methadone...I am scared. Im feeling your pain sweetheart. I have Lupus too so i know it's fucking hell what youre dealing with. Im crying because I know how you are feeling. You need to talk to your doctor about having GAD. Its a real problem.
