What a really nice sounding organ! At the end when she's playing it more "full", I bet that it really rumbles and fills the room up. 🙂
G-d is all of us, all of the animals, all of creation. And when the Catholic priest blesses the bread and wine, he isn’t making it the body and blood of G-d, he is acknowledging the creator in the creation who is there all along.
Nice cover! I hears a rabbi discuss this song today.
Thanks so much!! :)
How is this not just a story about individuality? Why shoehorn gender politics in there? And since when are nurturing and strength gendered traits?
Thank you for watching! And it's true: this is also about individuality. I think it's fair to say we "gender traits" in our society, even as we may lift up certain ones more for boys and certain ones more for girls (and maybe we don't need to as much as we do!). The intent, here, is to acknowledge that, and to invite thought around it. Peace be with you!
it could stand some re-voicing. in such a small room an organ this size could do wonders but it is a bit shrill. Casavant has a reputation for building excellent pipe organs and this one is no exception. You can do a lot with 25 ranks or so. Good luck!
It was so great you could join us at Grandfather Rock.
thank you for your kind welcome - great to be there!
Yes, that’s right , changes of the world but word of god will not ever change today, nor tomorrow nor in the future… HE is the alpha and omega … yes, welcome and include LGBT to our churches to guide them , to live according to what is moral in the eyes of God and to help them be sanctified ….educated them that marriage is a sacrament and will be only for a man and a woman. Educated them and not justify what the world is trying to make ,the wrong to be right. Welcome them and educate them…let Christ work in their lives..
I am a long time Joel fan and a fellow piano player with a story similar to yours. Also, I am a longtime Christian. I just recently posted on FB how that Joel (even as an atheist) has written so much about brokenness, redemption, resurrection, and forgiveness his whole life. How he can't see it is a mystery, but his lyrics suggest he is right there on the edge of salvation. so ironic that he can claim to be an atheist yet write lyrics like "It's late but Im here right now. Is there still time for forgiveness?" That's the sinners prayer that we all pray to be saved!!! I am very particular about the secular music that I will play and sing live. But most of Joel's stuff is perfectly at home in my setlist. Ive played and sang Just the Way You Are and You're My Home in weddings. Most of his catalog is just as you say-- a search for meaning. He has touched the lives of many Christians with his music. Check out "Traveling Prayer" from the Piano Man album...a prayer to the Lord in a bluegrass style! He may be a Christian and not know it.

sounds loud and coarse, trying to make too few pipes fill the room 😕
Why do so many of these American style organs have chromatic wind chest layouts? One hopes the lady at the end was playing before the tuning took place!
I've never actually gotten to see one before! Thanks for posting.
Slay lexi see you soon maybe ❤❤❤
I believe it is him in relationship to his muse, to his creative process… Since he felt he had nothing more to write and hadn’t really been connected to that mechanism… I feel that he was saying hey let’s turn this back on did I wait too long?…that’s just what I believe
A very thoughtful review.
In eighth grande, my middle school jazz band also played "We Didn't Start the Fire" (along with "Just the Way You Are") as part of a Billy Joel medley. I played the piano and I remember wondering why "We Didn't Start the Fire" didn't have a better piano part. Instead, I was given the bass line sheet and had to improvise the chords in the right hand. Too bad, my piano part got drowned out by the horns section.
You are aware that Freddie Wexler wrote the music & 95% of lyrics. Billy Joel just tweak a few words & recorded his vocals for Freddie's music. I like Billy & I know he could've written both the music & lyrics himself but this one song he did not.
Are you giving an opinion? Or do you have a source for Wexler writing 95% of the number?
@@brucetowell3432 A few interviews they both were answering questions. The piece was mostly done & he kept trying to get Billy to sing a recorded track & then Billy added or changed a few lyrics & a few bites here & there. Billy said he likes his sing he wrote because it sounded like something he would have wrote. Billy should work more with this guy & collaborate with others.
@@Mikinct Yes I've read just about every interview they have done, but the 95% is questionable. Billy brought over all his unfinished songs so hoping they will continue to work on songs for an LP. Never heard of the guy until a couple of weeks ago when the announcement came about the new song. I know there was a Jerry Wexler who ran Atlantic records many years ago, any relation? If he did write most of it, then he is a major talent, cause this number is as good as any typical Joel tune. You probably know more about him than I do...could you recommend a couple of songs I should listen to understand a bit more about Freddy's songwriting talent? Is he a guitarist? Pianist? thanks in advance!
@@brucetowell3432 this supports what you say - Billy bringing unfinished songs to Freddy; it sounds like he's open to more collaboration in writing ua-cam.com/video/7X_nftPFn6o/v-deo.html
He lost me at the Beatles brought piano into the rock band. Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis say hello. Then, Billy Joel's vocal was influenced by Ed Sheeran. Ok then ... 🤦🏽
Little Richard and Jerry Lee are great! ...lots of three-chord songs, there! Thanks for watching!
you'll probably feel foolish when you find out Billy didnt write this song..he made a couple word change suggestions and sang the song, thats about it.Do some research 1st next time.!!!
Co-written... Joel wrote it with producer Wexler (and two others). Thanks for watching! :)
If interested, here's a recording of "My Life" by musicians from Gloria Dei: ua-cam.com/video/fsBbyRJxNoY/v-deo.html (it was part of a Mardi Gras virtual concert we did during the pandemic - that concert is available on this channel)
And So it Goes off of River of Dreams
I hear both of those in this new song, too! :)
I really loved your analysis of Billy’s first new song in decades and how it relates to his life and all our lives. I grew up Jewish in miami in the 1970’s and 80’s and some fondest memories are sitting on the carpet in our den listening to 52nd Street on the turn table and reading all the lyrics on the album inside jacket. It was a great escape as my parents were getting divorced in a bitter dispute. I’ve immersed myself in all of Joel’s music from Cold Spring Harbor to River of Dreams and introduced my daughters to all of his music which they love. In fact, when my first daughter was born I made Lullaby (Goodnight My Angel) our song which she cries every time she still hears it. I’ve been fortunate to take them to see Billy in concert several times and it’s a wonderful shared generational experience. I really like your discussion on how the lyrics of Turn the Lights Back On resonate universally to everyone and to Billy’s personal life including spiritually. Keep up the thought provoking reflections:)
Many thanks! It's true how music can carry us through difficult times.
When I started crying, I knew I loved this song.
It is a moving song!
Great review
Thank you!
Very nice review and analysis. I was reading other comments elsewhere, and virtually every one mentioned the song brought tears to their eyes, as to my surprise, it did to me as I listened to it the first time. It really surprised me. Maybe it was just so good to hear his wonderful voice again, and that it just brought me back to those less chaotic times of youth. The lyrics are clear and emotional, and go right to a spot that I think a lot of people can relate with in their lives, especially as many of us approaching older age, and thinking and analyzing the things we did good, but also those things that maybe we didn’t do so good and wish we could have done better.
It's a touch of nostalgia mixed with contemplating life's meaning, isn't it? Thank you for watching!
I do like the "light" metaphor as well. The world sure could use more light at the moment and that lyric popped out to me! 💡Your video is interesting, I liked it 👍
Thank you!
Interesting analysis, Tyler. There's no question Billy Joel is a genius, which is proven by how maligned he sometimes gets. Just listened to the song, after watching your video, and it's absolutely true that relationships are fragile, and full of doubts and fears. I know that my Christianity is a huge help in facing the anxiety of the unknown. With Christ, we are never alone, and that brings something extra special to our friendships and relationships. Music can fill us with this sense of 'love', enough so that it defies understanding, and must rely on faith. It's an interesting song. The lyrics are excruciatingly introspection. You mentioned his atheism, and these terrible days of War expose great anxiety about faith, and God's 'Plan'. Certainly, the dead innocents are of great concern to us all, and the 'politics' aren't revealing easy answers. We can look at Solomon, and the debate about the contested baby, and pray that wisdom and mercy can find a way, while providing hope for some dignity in the future. There are great concerns about the future years, and whether civilization can cope with the terrible psychological damage in our midst. And yet, the future, through any calamity becomes what it will. Perhaps we need to shelter and protect that which is nearest to us. Otherwise, we spread ourselves too thin. Thanks for the review and contemplation. Of that we need much more, in an accelerating and deceptive age. Peace be with you, always.
Thank you, Chris! Peace be with you!
Bello!!!
this going so hard praise the lord
To put this rainbowflag in a church is so disgusting. Your not serving Jesus with this.

Good song
This video is so beautiful! Tyler and Sonny were able to join Ecole Charleswood School at the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada (in Winnipeg) in March 2023. It was wonderful to have our students not only explore the planes and history at the museum, but to experience it with an elder who has such a special connection to Canada's aviation past. Thank you, Tyler and Sonny!
thank you
