Ask Nelson and Lady Hamilton about Krakatoa!
Perfecta entonación, enhorabuena.
I could listen to this and never tire of it. lol simple things make the best of times.
Impressive!
I always love these types of i guess song covers where its just a bunch of lads sitting together and singing Doesn't really need the instrumental aid
You got the verses in the wrong order: and you know you did.
Master and commander brought me here. Now I’ve watched about 30 times lol
What is goin on here?
Everyone understands the meaning of friendship. But only the ones that have toiled many months (and years) at sea with each one depending on the other for survival understand the meaning of "Shipmates" .....USN 1964-'68.
The sails were made of canvas. I have noticed that some naval officers wear their cocked hats fore and aft and some wear their cocked hats port and starboard. Tom Kydd started his naval career as a pressed man. He is currently a Captain and a Knight of the Bath. He is now an admiral. Did the Linen worker join the navy?
Up Anchor! Sadly many of my shipmates are gone. I dont forget them.
We never forget our shipmates. Hand Salute.
Good memories… was proud to serve as your surgeons mate…
It was good to have you along sir! :)
@@ahroberts4 How did I not know you had a UA-cam channel?… Oh Yeah, I’m old and didn’t start watching regularly till covid hit… Lol

Bravo Gents My Favorite Version Truly
The costumes, upturned jug and the tankards in hand make this really authentic Nice job boys! Loved it
Men this is brilliant! The only thing I’d suggest is more grog! Thanks so much!
KILLICK! Killick there!!!
Which it will be ready when it's ready!
The song that pops into your head saying goodbye to your school friends
Men are capable of a level of fellowship that women would never understand, and they probably couldn't explain to begin with.
When captain got drunk and left the shore without you
God what i would give for me and a bunch of drunks to sing that song on a hot summer night by candle light

Come all ye young sailors and listen to me, I'll sing you a song of the fish in the sea, (Chorus) And it's windy weather boys, stormy weather boys, When the wind blows, we're all together boys, Blow ye winds westerly, blow ye winds blow, Jolly southwester boys steady she goes. Up comes the eel with his slippery tail, climbs up the loft and reaps the top sail, [Chorus] Up comes the shark with his nine rows of teeth, saying you eat the dough boys and I'll eat the beef, [Chorus] Up comes the lobster with his heavy claws, breaking the main mast with his jaws, [Chorus] Up comes the halibut flat on the deck, saying hey mister captain don't step on my neck, [Chorus] Up comes the codfish with his cockle head, running the rails and slinging the lead, [Chorus] Up comes the herring, the king of the sea, now all you fishes now you follow me, [Chorus] Up comes the octopus suckers on legs, he'll give you all eight of them to drink a keg, [Chorus] Up comes the whale the largest of all, if you want ye some wind then I'll blow ye a squall, [Chorus]
Nice!

We’re from Corydon! We love our hometown ❤️ we have posted a couple videos of Corydon history 😊
Lead singer has pleasant voice.
This is one of the best things if heard in a long in a long.
Sing it with some soul boys
the american accent doesn't help either
I don't know... but in my mithic mind, songs, or shanties like this are to keep or rise the spirit up in those strange depressed foggy moonlight in the middle of pacific nights... I don't know... this video quite fairly capture the real thing... One can't ask to sing "with more soul"... this is the soul of the thing as long as we have the "meister" guiding the song... and making we sing along to put the big sad away lolz
The song is great, but what really captures me is the whole aesthetic. Just a bunch of old men playing poker around in some bar lit only by lanterns. It really brings the whole song alive to just imagine a dockyard just outside there and these guys are just enjoying themselves before they set back out to sea again.
I agree!
the hats along with what u said . but yeah this is straight out of like 1867 looks like. puts me there
Just found this channel now I want to participate
100% would sail and plunder with
I LOVE IT
Is this the full version because black flag has a shorter one
Alpha863 Leader you can extend this song adding several different types of fish, hence the name Fish in the sea. this song can go on for a while from what I read on it.
Most traditional songs like these can have hundreds of verses you can sing. Through the years, new singers create new ones or remake old ones, so sometimes two versions of the same song can have completely different lyrics.
@@Magnoliam_ Yeah this is one of the neater aspects of Shanties, like with Roll the old Chariot it can go on forever!
Nice job.. but still - guy close to the camera which sings the lower part ( and sometimes high ) should stop singing or at least get into proper tonation.
