Content appreciated ❤ I gots the Indie dev fever 😅
We Willo-The-Wisp talks, we can't here his voice :(
I tried to schedule a call, but you don't have any available slots. When will more slots be available?
Hi! Our scheduled calls are usually meant for career advice, sadly all of our spots have been taken for the next few months, we'll notify everyone through our Discord server and social media when new spots open. If you have questions regarding our programs, please feel free to reach out to any of our staff in our Discord community, or through our email contact.
is it virual or onsite and can you apply internationally @Indiegameacademy
This doesn't seem very accessible at all tbh 😭. Having it be free with an undisclosed revenue share % feels extremely shady, and how is a minimum $3k investment and a year-long commitment at the level of a part time job workable for people who can't even throw $100 at something like this...? And the application asks for proof of a level of development skill and business knowledge that applicants could probably get by on if they started their business without IGF too. If accessibility has been an issue but IGA still needs the money, maybe putting some courses up on platforms people can access with a free trial like Skillshare or Udemy would be less risky for IGA and more beneficial for clients?
Hey @network0423! The revenue share split is clearly stated in both the video and in the linked supporting documents. As for the $3k, founding a business is not free, with or without us. None of that money goes to us! And we do have plenty of free classes! Check this very channel and our Discord.
Yeah, there is still a skill gap. I am looking for indie devs who need help doing all these things, and I don't take rev share
Great to hear about these programs. I tried participating but it seems you only accept team/project from whithin the USA. Any plans you can accept your neighbors? We have an advanced prototype in steam already (privately).
One day we hope to! As this is the first cohort we needed to keep it the US only for the sake of legal and paperwork setup. That said you only need to be founded in the US, so as long as you have at least one US founder you can apply :)
@@endgamedevs Oh hey, would love to reach out and get some help.
I'm so annoyed my glasses are crooked at the end
Also the massive booger in the nose too.

IGA TO THE MOON!!! 🚀🚀🚀
@27:40 That's very easy to say but seriously, how do you arrive at those numbers? I have no idea how many 'single dad's who love the outdoors' there are, much less how many of them would be interested in playing video games and I have no idea how to find that information.
Stopped the video at the beginning so as not to be influenced (yet) by the presenter. To begin with, I think one has to tailor a good pitch to the intended audience & setting. Audience factors would include the size, familiarity with games/your genre of game, and interests of the audience. Also the understood purpose of the pitch (financing/fund-raising, publicity, informational). In a business environment, one would want to know basic facts If possible about the particular business or organization, and the positions and responsibilities/decision-making abilities of the staff you will be meeting with. "Setting" factors would include audience arrangement (sitting around a table, 1:1 across a desk, facing an audience auditorium style, etc.), audio-visual aids available/permitted (If any), and time available. When the audience and setting are understood as far as possible, a good pitch should be outlined and then written out as a script. A good pitch is "vetted.". The script should be proofread by someone else, and then ideally given to people similar to the target audience for feedback. This can also generate lists of questions that come up which can then be prepared for. When possible, one should do the actual pitch in front of people (as much like the target audience as possible) and ideally get written anonymous feedback, but at least some kind of feedback. Making a video and watching it yourself is extremely valuable in making a good pitch. A good pitch is above all as brief and to the point as possible. It includes your sense of excitement, as long as you have some idea from feedback that you are able to convey this to an audience in ways they can relate to. A good pitch includes a brief description of the game including what makes it unique, and the elements that have proved interesting or attractive to players of this type of game along with related research or surveys when possible and appropriate. A good pitch does not feel like you are being told that the game is the game to end all games. A good pitch does not suggest that the audience would be idiots to not take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity. A good pitch is neither self-deprecating nor boastful. Now I'll watch the rest of the video and see how far off I am.
Very detailed. Thanks
Super confusing video, from the host having off-topic joke conversations in chat while their guest is answering their question to inviting someone to talk about how cinematic techniques can be applied to games, without having any experience making games.
Hey Chibs! We love bringing in heavy hitters from the industry with decades of experience, but we also care about uplifting and highlighting the experience of others as well

WOW 25 WHOLE VIEWS, THIS VIDEO IS DOING NUMBERS! THANKS FOR TELLING US THAT TRASH 8BIT GAMES SHOULD HAVE TALKING IN IT!
Your sense of organization and using plain nodes for organizing things makes so much more sense to me than what a lot Godot videos do… thank you for doing this!
Speaking as someone whose lifelong dream, pursued _relentlessly,_ has been to become a solo game dev, but who has been burnt out more-or-less continuously for around 12 years, culminating in a period of major depressive disorder: If burnout is very severe, sometimes the antidote is doing nothing at all for awhile, and _then_ doing freeware game dev.
Personally, I can only imagine doing freeware game dev - the market is flooded with every combination of the same tired mechanics, over and over and over, the only things I can even think of perusing with any interest feel kinda "artsy" and not very commercially viable.
A wonderful perspective. Doing what you like with no expectation of profit frees the mind. You can still end up making money, that's not forbidden, it's just not in the requirements.
Great video! Very helpful tips and honest about the current industry's situation. It helped me a lot! Thanks!
I am older now and have a much busier life with a family and full-time job. This was a very helpful episode for me. I am working on Game Dev in my spare time. Thanks guys!
Great Content thank you a lot!
Awesome conversation. Wish the voices didn't cut out so bad
i think you guys have your heart in the right place, and DEI seems like a noble cause on the surface, but in practice it has the opposite effect. it creates an echo chamber of prejudice against other humans that may not share your same values but are still fellow humans and fosters mediocrity. there is nothing worse at a job than a bunch of "yes-men". merit and the ability to work in a team and keep your personal discussions like politics/race/sex and religion out of work are what should be the highest values in a workplace. the average person who actually cares about the work they are doing i guarantee cares more about the ability of their co-workers than their race or gender.
DEI more like DIE
Thank you! That was awesome, I was waiting and looking a long time for game dev podcasts that are friendly and high quality. Listening to this was really chill and informative, best combo out there!
it is a silly question to ask, But how do I convince people to work on Game Jam project?
👍👍Great conversation and advice😺
Lmao I cannot with the voice 😂 Also food 🥲
its mid-2024, and honestly i don't see it recovering until mid 2025
