Hey is there any practice routine you do for toprock?
I usually begin my training by doing a basic two step motion. It’s the stance you’ll usually see B-boys in when they’re waiting for their turn in a battle. I listen to the music and try to stay on beat the entire time so the two step allows me to familiarize with the rhythm. I then try to imagine I’m at the center of a big square with 9 smaller squares in it. Think of a small bingo sheet and you’re standing at the free space. I try to hit all squares within the circle while using the center one as my starting point. This allows you to come up with some cool angles you’d never think to try before. Use this mindset only early on in practice sesh with toprock though because you’ll find yourself standing in one spot for too long. Try to own the floor, move from one spot to the other as you toprock. Try spins, in both directions. It’s smoother to look at and makes you look fresh when you can move around with it. Last thing, just have fun, listen to the music and OWN the entire floor!
