    I actually remember watching that game. The Count hit a home run. Giants also had a pitcher named John D'Aquisto that year if I remember correctly.

    • @IconicSportsMedia
      @IconicSportsMedia 3 дні тому

      Yes he did hit a Home Run in his 2nd at-bat (which was his first official at-bat in the big leagues because he drew a walk first time up). Thank you for watching!

    That Celtics team would've won the title in 2010 as well if not for Ray Allen missing a bunch of shots late in game 7 that he would normally hit in his sleep. Those bricks allowed the Lakers to hang around and finally win it in the end despite Kobe having a terrible game and not contributing much to the win for the Lakers.

    He was most famous for running his mouth saying he was going to strike out Johnny Bench 4 timee. Bench homered twice doubled and drove in 5 or 6 runs in the game.

      @DaveCatalano Summer 1975. In Cincinnati. I was at the game. He said he would shutout the Reds and K bench 4 times. Reds scored 11 or 12 runs. I think the Count gave up 7 or 8 in like 2 innings before he got taken out of the game. Bench Homered in the first inning. I was 8 and it was the 2nd game I ever attended. It was I'm all the newspapers about the Count saying this. I might be remembering wrong about Bench driving in 7 or 8. But I definitely remember him hitting a long first inning HR. The 2nd HR likely came off the reliever. Check boxscores summer of 1975 Giants at Reds. With Montefusco pitching and the Reds scoring double digit runs. You will find it. I was there I have the ticket stub somewhere. If I find it. I'll post the exact date for you.

      Montefusco was a good pitcher for a few years mostly on bad teams. Young and brash kid. Like most of us were at that age. He probably did shutout the Reds during his career. But after that game he probably kept his mouth shut before facing the Reds. 70s baseball was the best. Clemente, Mays, Aaron,Stargell, Mccovey, F.Robinson, B. Williams, Bench, Rose,Morgan, Seaver,Carlton,Ryan Schmidt,Reggie,Brett,Yount and on and on. Great players like AL Oliver, Bill Madlock, Garvey, Sutton. Parker Tommy John. It's a crime players like John and Tiant aren't in the Hall of fame.

    Revis is not in the same league as Deion Sanders or Rod Woodson

    • @IconicSportsMedia
      @IconicSportsMedia 23 дні тому

      In my opinion Revis was the best all-around corner including covering quick slant routes, bump-and-run coverage, and tackling in the running game...all big weaknesses in Deion's game. People mostly remember Deion's highlights covering fly routes and being an explosive punt returner but if you break down his overall game as a CB, there were some major areas where he was lacking. Rod Woodson is close...so is Charles Woodson...but give me Revis! Thank you for contributing!

    A friend of mine got Tom Brady’s autograph when he was at Michigan. Unfortunately he doesn’t know where it is right now. He thinks it’s in a box at his parents house somewhere. The funny thing is, he said getting Brady’s autograph at Michigan was easy because he wasn’t the most popular guy on the team at the time. No one knew what he would become later.

    I'm two months younger than Bill Walton and was a student at Indiana University when this game took place. I remember watching it on TV with friends. We all wanted UCLA to win, not just because Bill was a great player, but also because he was "one of us," an anti-war intellectual and not a dumb jock. I remember watching with disbelief being the prevalent feeling in the room. I have never seen a game like that before or since. As I recall it, Bill missed two free throws that would have made his stat line even better. If not for his bad feet, he may have become the NBA GOAT. Thanks for posting this.
