The F-22 has also been used in limited combat operations, such as striking ISIS targets in Syria in 2014. Originally, the USAF planned to procure over 700 F-22s, but due to budget constraints and changing defense priorities, production was halted in 2011 after only 195 units were built. This decision left the F-22 fleet smaller than initially intended, but the aircraft remains a vital component of America’s defense strategy.
