Lowe Alpine Edge 26 daypack long-term review - my own experience
Переглядів 2,8 тис.Рік тому
A quick video of my thoughts on this day rucksack / backpack from Lowe Alpine for anyone who is thinking about buying one. It's a good pack, but definitely has some quirks. This is just my own experience of using it, hopefully you find it helpful.
Ribble CGR 725 tyre clearance - Can you fit 50mm gravel tyres? 40mm vs. 50mm width compared.
Переглядів 1,2 тис.Рік тому
I thought I'd see if I can run a 50mm Goodyear Connector gravel tyre (tire) on my Ribble CGR 725 steel gravel bike. Sharing the results for all those who might be wondering the same thing. I only show the back tyre as frankly the front fork has massive clearance so would easily fit a 50. There is an enthralling commentary providing further details. I'm not a professional UA-camr, just an averag...
Thanks for a great review. I have the same Defy Advanced 2022 and have been looking at what mudguards could fit with good protection and also suit group rides. So looking for good front and good rear coverage. On paper these appear to offer good coverage but as you point out they need a good amount of tweeking. Did the set come with the Fender Bridge or did you have to buy that separately ?
Glad it was helpful. The bridge came with the bike, I had to make sure the bike shop dug one out for me when I bought it!
Just purchased this for £80 in a sale. I normally go for more premium like Aer or Bellroy, but i like the functionality look to this. Cheers for the review. Just for future reviews id probably recommend showing what you carry in it, just to give a better idea of capacity and what it can hold . Cheers
Glad it was helpful. Yeah, good suggestion. I didn't spend ages doing this, but the video has been popular, so if I do another then I'll probably throw a few things in to show it off more. I've just bought a Gregory Nano 18 in the sale, so that might well happen!
This or the osprey daylite?
Daylite if you want a lightweight hiking/outdoors/everyday pack, the Rhune if you need to carry a large laptop and lots of technical stuff regularly for travelling or commuting. Daylite possibly the better all-rounder.
Wished I'd have watched this before buying Giant mudguards for my Giant bike. Absolute nightmare to 'fit'
Great review, I came to the same conclusion. I fitted some heli tape and a rubber washer as metal to carbon connection on stays is crazy. I have had issues where the rear brace moves up and down regardless of how tight the bolts are and slid off completely the other day.
Thanks! Yeah, I'm not sure if I said, but I do have some heli tape on the fork and the rear brace, for what it's worth. It's a strange arrangement isn't it - hopefully mine won't go as far as yours. 😬I still haven't got around to adding an extra bit by the seat tube and had the dreaded pool of wet sandy crud after my ride yesterday.
Before some of you point out there are superior mudguards on the market, I'm well aware and have used many of them over the years. The first pair I bought for this bike were Kinesis Fend Offs, but these would not fit due to the metal bracket for the front fork crown being way too long, so that it hit the top of the down tube (you can see it's quite tight). That was a pain, so I thought I'd just get some guards that were at least "guaranteed" to fit right.
GREGORYの大ヒット作で売り切れ御免だらけのこのルーヌ22マットネイビー。 なぜ2024年このCOLORを継続しなかったのか理解不能過ぎる。。 GREGORY公式に意見しときました。
Thanks!
Thanka for the review, aprreciate it :) How weather resistant is the bag from your experience?
Can't say I've tested it too much on that front. I would say it's OK, no worse than others, but nothing special.
Thanks for this review, ive been looking for one like this! Are the mesh pockets firm or are they stretchy?
You're welcome. Yes, they are a little stretchy, not loads, and the top of them is elasticated.
I’m looking for a daypack, interested to know what you’re upgrading to please? I’m currently looking at this or the Osprey daylite plus.
I went for a Gregory Rhune 22. It's not really a hiking daypack, more of a commuter pack, but it just fit my needs better. Hoping to post a review of it soon.
@@lesthedog Thanks, I ended up getting the Osprey Daylite plus 👍
I really need to check real height of full backpack. Can you do that please?
I'm sorry, I don't have the backpack any more.
50(H) x 30(W) x 25(D)cm Get the 22l version if you're thinking about cabin size for flights.
I have the Hope 20Five wheels (20mm internal) on my CGR AL, do you think I could fit 47mm tires on it? I'm hoping to run the Specialized Pathfinder Pro 47s on mine. I will of course measure mine to figure it out, but any thoughts would be appreciated!
I would say perhaps yes, if they're known to come up a smidge smaller? Not sure if anyone has mentioned that in any reviews? You've not got crazy wide rims, so might have it come in around 45mm so would be OK. Do you go out in much mud? If so, get some tape on the paintwork beforehand! Let me know if you do try them, supposed to be good tyres 👍
Is it worth upgrading to those wheels do you think?
@@andrewpearson4772 That very much depends on what you're looking for. They are bombproof and relatively light for a strong aluminum wheel. If you want something lighter you can find that in aluminum and obviously carbon, and if you want stronger you can probably find a touring wheel that fits the bill. For me they are the perfect medium between light and strong. I'm a heavy guy and ride them on rough New England dirt roads pretty frequently and haven't needed to true them since I got them a year ago. Hope that helps; let me know if you have any specific questions!
@@andrewpearson4772The Mason x Hunt model shown here are pretty old now, and although they're good wheels, they're more aimed at 'all road' riding. They're a great weight for the price and you would definitely notice the different over the stock Mavics, if that's what you have. But you might want to think about one of Hunt's more gravel-oriented wheelsets, which would be wider. I'm a big fan of Hunt, have had a few pairs and never had any problems. Those Mason x Hunts have been going for years over all sorts of abuse and have only just picked up their first slight wobble, about 8 years later.
@@maxwellsage7422Ah, I read the question like it was asking about my Mason x Hunts 4S, hence my reply below, but I see it's prob about your Hope 20Five. Oh well, all good info!
Thanks for the review, very helpful :)
Only video online i could find! Nice nice!
