Marika's Ascension was NOT legitimate; AND IT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING [Elden Ring Lore]
Переглядів 164 тис.5 місяців тому
There are multiple conundrums about Marika's ascension and the Erdtree history. 1. The Fingers that guided her were all unhinged, broken and long abandoned by the Greater Will... So how did she do it? 2. Why the age of plenty ended despite the Erdtree was once perfect and eternal? 3. Why the Golden Order was only founded later but not in the beginning of the Erdtree? 4. Why is removal of Destin...
For those wondering, the golden things Marika was holding were rune arcs and she was popping them 'cos she was getting destroyed by Grandam's consort.
Great work really, to connect with the rest of the revealed lore including the frenzied flame ending is very interesting.
Something that really confused me before was the fact that you must swear loyalty to Ranni and give her the Fingerslayer Blade in order to finish Fia's quest and unlock the Duskborn ending. Connecting the Eclipse to the presence of Deathroot in Farum Azula helps to smooth that over. There's a clearer connection between the Nox, the moon, and Destined Death. Edit: I'm really struggling with your take on the Elden Beast. That's kind of the thread tying each of your videos together, yet it seems pretty unlikely. The DLC was very direct in telling us that the Two Fingers are lying, and cannot commune with the Greater Will. Yet in your interpretation, GW is still watching the Lands Between, or at least knows when the Ring is shattered and sends a response. If the Beast is truly acting out what the GW wants, why can't the Fingers commune with the Beast rather than trying in vain to reach the GW?
The Fell God is the God of the Sun and ruled over the dragons with the dragon lord Placidusax during the time of the Sun Realm. The Hornsent hate the Fell God so when the Jar Saint Marika said she could defeat him by draining the sun with a tree via photosynthesis bringing in an Age of Plenty they got behind her hence her elevated position in their culture. But her real goal was to become a god. Marika was the Gloom Eyed Queen at this time and the demigods she hunted were the children of the Fell God who inherited shards of the Elden Ring when the Fell God was defeated. She learned how to consume gold and gain immortality from the serpent Eiglay who i think was meant to be her lord. When she ascended at the Gates of Divinity and betrayed the Hornsent by slaughtering every person present for their life energy (or gold) she also betrayed and claimed the gold from the serpents corpse which we see in the trailer and became her own lord. She kept this a secret and lied saying the Serpent betrayed and killed everyone before she killed it which is why the serpent is an enemy of the Erdtree and the Hornsent. The rune of Death was still free at this point and Godfrey killed all who stood in opposition to the Erdtree. Once the wars were over and the Tarnished were banished the world began to fade due to the lack of death in the Lands Between. In an attempt to stop her Age from "dying" the Erdtree of the Age of Plenty was burned, hence why it's corpse is in the Land of Shadows where all death ends up and Leyndell is covered in ash pre Golden Order Erdtree burning, the Land of Shadows were veiled, the rune of Death was sealed, and a new Erdtree of the Golden Order was created when Radagon became Elden Lord to continue to give the illusion the Erdtree is perfect and eternal.
The nox can’t build Moslems in a prehistoric era because the nox were already recording history. You mean ancient.
Just seen your video, and then the night reign trailer drops. It seems you were quite right man
"What the golden threads is" Well, what is they?
Way too many amazing insights to not subscribe. The eclipse is such a tough topic to expand and youve done it incredibly successfully!
I noticed that the Chapel of Anticipation is one of the only spots that you can see the sun shining. I don't know if it's connected with anything but it is interesting 🤔
Great video!
I N D E E D
Fantastic video! I'm grateful that this was recommended to me just as I've been researching ER's sun. Indeed, this has pulled a subscription out of me. I'll be checking out your previous video and very much looking forward to your next one. I especially am interested to see where the hornsent and tower culture fit into this whole thing.
Much thanks for the sub! I have finally finished the theory crafting so the video is coming soon! But yes, the legacy of the sun realm is definitely present in the tower culture. Just some food for thoughts since it will be some time before the next video is out, but if the crucible is and has always been a tree, why reach for the skies?
I’ve found 8 pointed star and flower of life iconography all over Belurat and Enir-Iliem. I have a theory that the Hornsent worshiped the Sun, but unknowingly worshiped its downfall, for the sun brings destruction as it does life. (Fire and sunlight)
That my friend is exactly what the next video will be focusing on! There are too many things about the hornsents that just dont add up if the crucible is simply, and always and only has been a tree. The theory that the sun was once an erdtree equipvalent opens up a whole new avenue on what the primodial form of the erdtree is. A really big implication of this video that is hiding in plain sight haha. I am finally done with the theory crafting and will begin writing the script. Hopefully I can get it out just in time for Christmas!
So we have the Lands Between, the Land of Shadow, and the. . . . Sun Realm. Sun of the Erdtree, Next DLC??????
There is a noticeable lack of sky ruins in the DLC, so the sun realm should have fallen after the lands were separated 😮
Things I noted: - when Marika raises the golden threads, the sky in front of her is golden, while the sky outside the gate is gloam colored. - Most of Ordina is buried under snow, as can be seen by various spires protruding. Together with the ghost trees and frozen lakes it is implied that the mountain tops were once much warmer. Maybe warmed by sun light? - There are two layers of corpses in front of the divine gate. The newer one consists of normal sized hornsent, the older one of larger sized humanoids without horns. It seems likely the gate was used at least twice!
I'm sold on the eclipse and Farum Azula as the sun realm, but the story around Marika seemed too contrived. Also, there is nothing to support empyreans being Nox by definition. We can't even be sure that they descended from a god, since Marika was probably an empyrean, but has no revealed relation to the previous one.
It's incredible we're still discovering things after so much time...indeed! If you substitute the elden ring with the Silmaril , the whole story is a rip off of the Silmarillion.
just curious: Where is your accent from?😊
Cant wait for your next video🎉
My Theory: Marika as a Shaman witnessed all the wrong done To her people and she was either forced to merge with the GEQ or she made a deal with the abyssal serpent or its physical representativ. As that she established the godskin . Then at the gate she should have been fed to the serpent but slayed it and made a ritual to separate her from the GEQ again and lock her behind Melinas Eye. Because Marika is traumatized by all the violent blending she is all about separating thats why the Golden Order is so exclusiv.
As the Outer God & the Fingers so the eclipse draws heavily inspiration from Berserks GodHand and the event to become one of them
The eclipse definitly plays a major part in Marikas Rise to divinity. The Gate resembles the Shape and in the trailer it is seen the dark/purple outside and the bright/golden inside between the sheer amount of flesh with the hint that Marika is a Shaman. Then in Ymirs hat and metyr the symbol of the eclipse is repeated.
The counterpart to the Eclipse Shotel might be found in the Hand of the putresendKnight at St.Trinas Location.I know the Shotel is already merged Sun und Moon together. But imo the one looks like the sun the other like a cresend moon.
each time you say indeed I remember Morrigan from DA the tone and placement of indeeds are similare to her indeeds while I disagree with some of the points I still like your take on the sun relm and castle sol great video
Really interesting dragon age origin is one of the very first rpg I played and still one of my all time favorites! Glad you like some of the takes as well!
INDEED.. this was a great video) have to always think about the firekeeper in DS II )
Doesn't seem an eclipse did anything to Farum Azula, as the reason for Farum Azula's collapsing state is in the Ruins Greatsword description: "Originally rubble from a ruin which fell from the sky, this surviving fragment was honed into a weapon. One of the legendary armaments. The ruin it came from crumbled when *struck by a meteorite*, as such this weapon harbors its destructive power." Faruma Azula or Rauh is that city of the Sun - Castle Sol is not a city. it's the highest altitude Fort in TLB (aside from the floating city FA) so has the clearest view of the sun - this makes it the most opportune place to invoke an eclipse. As for the meteorite that struck Farum Azula, it may have truly been a meteor or it could have been a "star", as many falling objects and creatures are called. Perhaps by meteor, the team means a Me-T-yr? Who knows. The eclipse was an attempt to complete Godwyn's death because the Hallowbrand looks like an Eclipse- it was likely theorized by Miquella that the unfinished half-seal on Godwyn's body would be made whole by the eclipse itself.
time to listen for the 3rd time
Will try to drop the next vid by the end of this month ! Thank you for rewatching and sorry for the long wait between uploads!
Excellent use of the text to back up your work. I've seen a lot of "this is reminscent of this real world myth" type lore posts, and my own lore speculation heavily relies on relating the game's plot and themes to parallels in biology, astrophysics, and psychology. That's great, but it's more like recreating the ER mood board/design doc than unraveling the story. I really appreciate anyone who can weave together the in-game descriptions, assets, and gameplay to make a narrative without using extratextual sources to glue the disparate parts together. This is the most cohesive ACTUAL lore video I've ever seen on Elden Ring, maybe any work of fiction. YIPPEE 10/10 no notes 🥇 ⭐ 🏆 🐐
Thank you for such high praise!I have been reading and watching a lot of materials on real world geology, astrophysics and astronomy as well and have notice the crazy amount of inspirations Fromsoft has taken from these subjects to build the world... But since Elden Ring is a high fantasy world and the law of physics etc. can be highly exaggerated or altered, imo the relevant inspirations still need to be examined with clues from the game and fit the overall context. Like how "the final moments of a great star cluster" mentioned by Stars of Ruins is very high fantasy but would be difficult to reconcilie with current astrophysics as the death of a cluster in real world seems to be a very gradual event on cosmic timescale. But I think I have identified the key inspiration behind the crucible of the hornsents which may not be new for the community, but am trying to unravel the details by matching as much clues and context as possible to see how its applied in elden ring and if it could solve other mysteries as well. Glad you and enjoyed it and hope you can stay tuned for the next!
@@OccamsOnion This is indeed the most formidable Elden Ring Lore investigation, among around a hundred watched with attention. Mister Miyazaki should be proud that finally someone was smart enough to uncovered the lore central secret while the others are still lost around in various wrong directions and speculations, creatively wrong yes but still wrong and lacking the perfect coherence of your work. Standing ovation deserved.
I keep rewatching this video.
Thank you for the rewatch and sorry for the long wait between uploads! I will try to drop the next vid by the end of this month !
Indeed!
Indeed.
Bro I can't with all these "Indeed", I'm just losing my shit lmao
Interesting considering placi's battle takes place outside of time, considering the sun and light itself dictates how time flows even in real life.
You know. When I play Eldon Ring and the DLC, I don't really think about all of this lore. It is interesting to watch some of these videos..... When I play the game though, I am honestly not thinking about the motivations of Marika or who the Glome-Eyed Queen was. I'm just trying to find different spells and weapons and get enough runes in order to upgrade everything and myself. And I am just trying to figure out the timing to defeat certain enemies.
Praise the Sun!

Nice catch on the smithing Stone detail! It didn’t even cross my mind that “drained of color” is actually a really odd description for something devoid of color until you pointed it out. Also something tangentially related: the artbook(or concept art version) of the Elden ring at farum azula depicts the upmost half circle as a extremely bright orb, further reinforcing your belief that the sun is connected to placidusax’s rule
And the central spiral of the Elden Ring too. There are so many parellels between Farum Azula and Enir Illim that I cant wait to share with you all! I havent seen a comment pointing it out yet but under this theory, the Sun being an Erdtree equivalent of the last cycle, opens up a whole new avenue for what "the primodial form of the Erdtree, the crucible" is. Hope you can stay tune for my next video!
STOP FUCKING SAYING INDEED RAHHH
would make sense if Bayle was the reason the Gloom-eyed-Queen could flee from Placidussax, and i think there are enough similarities between Placidussax and the Elden beast that the dragon was not only lord but the Elden Rings avatar of the great will. While Marika probably tried to hinder the forces of Order and the Beast but didn't get away in time.
Elden beast being vassal of greater will has rather to do with it being sent by the greater will from the stars. Placidusax didn't arrive on meteor like The Elden beast.
Wonderful video. I am curious though, as a hobbyist sound enjoyer. Your accent is very interesting & unique. If it's not inappropriate to speculate, are you perhaps a native Chinese speaker who learned english from English/British people? I'd love to know if this guess is remotely accurate. I'm a huge nerd for phonetics & accents. Your accent is very pleasing to the ears & unique. I hope this isn't taken the wrong way. (This is not meant as anything remotely racist, this is purely from my love of phonetics. If I'm incorrect, please correct me. If this is offensive, I sincerely apologize in advance.)
Spot on! and no worries I dont find it offensive at all! I am a native Cantonese speaker originally from Hong Kong and learned the British variety from school growing up. I actually majored in Linguistics back in the uni days so I also dabbled a little bit in phonetics haha. But I didnt really speak English on a daily basis untill I moved to Canada two years ago. So I only became more fluent recently and feel like the way I speak still fluctuates a lot as I am torn between British and American or even Canadian English. Together with Cantonese as my native tongue is the end product haha. The voiceover or even the writing is actually pretty rough for me to do despite becoming more fluent recently. So I feared its gonna be the make or break for this channel but I am suprised it hasnt been too big of an issue and even more surpised and happy to know you enjoyed it!
Indeed. True true.
In a time long forgotten, 4 lords found the lords souls within the fire. After countless ages the fire finally fades, left not but smoldering embers upon the mountain now known as the flame of ruin.
I will also add that seeing as the flame of dark souls led the world down a broken ruined path its pretty spot on. Also Marika reminds me of the last firekeeper in 3.
Indeed ! You truly nailed it
This makes sense overall, i personally am not a big fan of the idea of an "ancient Ranni equivalent" as i dont think there is enough evidence for the existence of such a charackter.
Hold on. Why would the GEQ kill gods if she was the god of this so called previous cycle? Like… what’s the motivation, dude?
Keep watching haha the reasoning will follow.
I must say, you really got me with the smithing stones
Marika caused an eclipse thru a ritual and a massive betrayal sacrificing the hornsent to make herself a god. Miyazaki's berserk fanboy is showing here as it's basically the Berserk eclipse story line with Griffith's betrayal 1 for 1 including the massive world tree.
Well, commander Niel has the broken needle, so that might be the actual reason why he is resistant to the scarlet rot
This is such good lore content, cant wait for future uploads.
This video is very impressive and makes me more confident in my own personal crackpot theory that the Elden Beast is the true form of Radagon.
52:00 this got me laughing for some reason, good video very informative
