    Hi there, I am filling out a CSU application for college and it is asking me to input my Parents' adjusted gross income (AGI) for 2022 and my Parents' untaxed income and benefits for 2022. I know the AGI can be found on line 11 of the 1040 form on the 2022 Individual Tax Return, but I want to confirm where I can find the amount for the untaxed income and benefits? Is it line 2a where it says “Tax-exempt interest” or is it line 2b where it says “Taxable interest”? Line 2a is blank, but line 2b has an amount. Which one would I put? Thank you!

    I was accepted off the wait list at my #1 school. Super excited! My #2 school has lower cost of attendance (tuition, room and board). In addition, my number two school offered a 4000 per year merit scholarship. Can I submit a letter asking to be considered for a merit scholarship? Any downside?

    • @CollegeCoach
      @CollegeCoach 3 місяці тому

      Now that you've been accepted, there's no downside at all. Be prepared, however, with waitlist offers, colleges often expect very quick responses, and may tell you that you have to make a decision based on your current offer (or lack thereof). Still, however, it's worth a shot! Good luck!

    What if you took classes outside of high school like at UCSCOUT or community college?

  • @sarahconnell6332
    @sarahconnell6332 4 місяці тому

    Our high school uses Naviance so you can create a “Scattergram” that compares your GPA and test scores with other students from our school who applied to a college in the past. You can see where your dot lands in the big picture of students from your school who have been accepted. It doesn’t let you know about their rigor, extracurriculars, etc. but if your grades & test score fall outside of their typical acceptance then you need to move on.

    So- it’s worthless if your combined family income is above $101k - it can in fact harm your ability to get merit or talent aid ?

    • @CollegeCoach
      @CollegeCoach 4 місяці тому

      No, there is no particular cutoff at $101k. Financial aid eligibility is highly dependent upon the cost of the college. The higher the price of the college, the higher your income can get while still retaining need-based financial aid eligibility. At the most expensive colleges, family income can be well over $200k and, depending on other data points outside of income (family size, assets, etc.), you still may qualify for some financial aid. And no, applying for need-based aid typically has no affect on merit aid. In fact, merit aid disproportionately goes to students with high family income.

    Community College then transfering to the best University for your major is the obvious best path for most. Leave this ridiculous rat race for Ivy Admissions to the prep school families who have been paying $50k.a year since elementary school. In a way they have prepaid for their children's inflated HS grades.

    I’m prt of the category of students that applied to public state schools (EA) and already got admission. However, I got my acceptances before they got to see my semester 1 grades and obviously my semester 2 grades. I’ve had a cumulative unweighted 3.7 gpa over grades 9-11, but my semester 1 gpa this year is 3.2. I haven’t completely tanked it, but I did go from averaging an A- to a B/B-. Is it possible that my acceptances get revoked? Thank you for the video, it was very informative.

However, I only realized now but I submitted it for 2023-2024 in January of 2023 and my financial aid package for my university is way higher than we can pay, higher than his yearly income. For my self submitted course work (they’ll receive my official transcript after my counselor inputs it herself) I accidentally left out that in the second semester I am taking Economics. Or will they notice on my transcript it states I will take it next semester

    This might not hold up if you're competing with others. If there's a menu of choices and two other students make pancakes, one does great the other does mid, the ok pancakes might outshine the zero pancake chef. If only 2 get picked it might get tricky to decide. If you're terrible at pancakes then sure, don't bother, but the debate is when you fall somewhere in the middle, no? It's all about who you're being compared to

    Hello, I have a question on whether of not this is a small mistake. I have taken a course at another high school outside of my own. When I requested the official transcript, I noticed that each semester from the "Other" school is only 0.5 credits while my high school uses 5 credits. I had mistakenly entered 5 credits instead of 0.5 credits for each semester. The rest of the information is correct, but there is just this error on the amount of credits per semester. Luckily, out of my early schools, only one uses the "Courses and Grades" section. Would it be worth emailing the one college that uses it to let them know that each semester at the "Other" school is worth 0.5 credits and not 5 credits? Thank you.

      Hello! Although this error likely won't result in any major issues with your application review, I do think it's a good idea to send a quick email to the admissions office to let them know about the mistake and ensure they have accurate information on file. Best of luck as you navigate the rest of the admissions process!
