    Hi, I'm using a pair of these motors with 2 qs909 controllers, I'm having difficulty making code that allows me to be more responsive, I can't get it to brake when changing direction, I have a feeling the controller has protection since it takes the data from the hall sensors. I hope you can help me and thank you very much.

    Hi. I am building a similar vehicle and have the same controllers. In the specs it states that the control voltage needs to be 5v. But I measured the positive voltage output on the controller it showed voltage of 9-10v. How did you solve this problem? Did you even use this output to power your board or did you use a step down directly from battery?

    If you change your stepper drivers to a 2208 or 2209, they will be virtually silent (they looked like 4988's which are noisy). Great looking project by the way! Also, check out steve's clocks--like minded community and you might get some programming tips.

    I know that shit is loud still. 😮 I've built my enclose 3x larger and with decent materials and I'm still at like 50+ db. I'm now adding foam and automotive sound dampener mats. Doing some initial testing I should should be under 40db at the end of this. Biggest issue though fo transmission in box is the plexy 1/8ths acrylic and I have small windows. I'm sure this reduces the stand still noise, but Im sure while running it to ur neighbor are like wtf 😂 If you do dust collection I know they hate you 😂 I haven't really come to a bes t solution, but fr I Mc thinking multiple layer an of foam and automotive butyl layer.

      Thanks for your comment! 🎉 Surprisingly, my neighbors haven't complained. They said they can't hear a thing when the CNC is running. I think it's because this is an old building with rather thick walls. Good luck with your project!

    Nice looking clock 👍🏻 Here some ideas for next version: Go for a micro controller w WiFi and a network time protocol. Easy to get going and never have to set the time again. Make homing sensors so the micro controller can move the disks to 0 then you don’t have to manually set them. For the disk rotations either gear them to a nice ratio or keep track of their absolute rotation, not relative position. Good luck and thanks for sharing 👍🏻

    • @mazeg7880
      @mazeg7880 Рік тому

      Thank you for your ideas; you are right. For my next version, I will definitely change the gear ratio, and also, a closed-loop system makes sense. For that, I will have to rotate the stepper motors 90 degrees so that the clock doesn't get too thick with the added encoders. But I am not sure if I want to use a microcontroller with Wi-Fi because I would rather turn the dial of the clock twice a year than go through the struggle of connecting the clock to Wi-Fi every time I change my internet provider. I think that would be a horrible user experience. ('User' in this case refers to me and also my parents because they also want a clock). But thanks again for your ideas!

    • @mazeg7880
      @mazeg7880 Рік тому

      Thank you for your suggestion! I think something like that, where I get an even number of steps, is a great idea. However, I think the advantage of using magnets is that, because the stepper motors are turned off when they are not in use, they help to hold the position. Nevertheless, I will definitely give it a try.

      Kleiner Hinweis noch zum Thema entkoppeln.. ich hab mein ganzes Geraffel auf schaumstoff-unterlagen gestellt, also das Styropor, was ich passenderweise im Keller hatte. Das entkoppeln bewirkt, dass die generierten Schwingungen nicht direkt und stark auf den Untergrund übertragen werden, was die Geschichte noch etwas geräuschärmer macht.
