Allegiance to jesus is the very definition of our salvation that is the entrance to Jesus kingdom. We absolutely don’t belong to this world. We are in a guerrilla warfare with Jesus to be an example of a kingdom culture and the invitation to others to join the kingdom. While we have the rare priviledge to make appeals via voting to our leaders the political process will never bring about christian morality. Its a grassroots problem.

Watching this 2 years after the fact. Great discussion! Read John Mark's book. Need to read it again. I had a little trouble with his writing style. I think a second time around would be beneficial since I would be less distracted. I'm 25 or 30 years older than you guys, but have been feeling the same kinds of frustration that I think you're talking about here. I have moved away from evangelicalism. I am much more eclectic now, and am content to call myself a Nicene Christian. I'm still fairly conservative morally and theologically, but have become rather disillusioned with the church as a whole. I've grown very tired of the theological and political rhetoric in our country. I think you are correct, focusing on being a disciple of Jesus will correct a lot of our problems. I first heard of Russell Moore on an interview about today’s evangelical community. I’ve been learning about Christian Nationalism for over a year as a hobby. I’ve been trying to get my brother interested in the topic so I have been bombarding him with everything I could find on the topic. I’ve been out of So Bapt world since 1992. He is 7 years older than I am and stayed in longer. He got tired of So. Bapt fundamentalism and finally got out too. When I sent him the video, he was shocked. He couldn’t believe that one of the guys that irritated him several years ago is now speaking language he can relate to. Dr Moore has changed. He won’t convince me otherwise. As a former So Bapt, I can tell you that the convention is only saying out loud what they have always believed, but it is now wrapped up in political issues. Maybe it’s always been that way. I say hats off to Dr Moore!! He makes me almost want to believe in God again. ❤ to ALL.

Sure, such moves were in his interest. What, does someone advocate for something that benefits themselves and might benefit other people? I saw the sexual revolution as something that was great for the statistical outliers. Whenever I see a hardcore social conservative, I just see someone who has decided that misfits, outcasts, and those who the life script does not work for can be ignored or treated like square pegs in round holes. Does he pledge allegiance to his wife or kids? Not supposed to do that according to his own words. Only allowed to pledge allegiance to Jesus so he says. If you don’t pledge allegiance as one nation UNDER God then you get one nation thinking they are god. You need Christians to say the pledge keep the pledge and promote the pledge not cowardly mumble something else. What about when Jesus commands us to baptize nations (Greek word meaning people groups aka not simply individuals). Jesus could have easily said baptize individuals but he said teach disciple and baptize ALL nations. Any Christian whose goal is different than Jesus’s command to make Christian nations is disobeying Jesus. Are children commanded to honor aka be in allegiance to their parents? Are believers told to honor the emperor aka be in allegiance to the ruling authorities? What would be the deciding point where one would separate their allegiance from father or mother nation or political party?… when they go against Jesus and His law right? It’s almost as if there is one law and one law Giver over all nations tribes and peoples 🤔 It’s almost as if the Kings and princes of the earth should kiss the Son less he be angry 🤔 Ok let’s play ball. Let’s play Preston’s game. Let’s start new and make new rules according to the global multi ethnic Jesus’ kingdom. Where can we find a kingdom who laws are… Deuteronomy 4:8 What standard are you going to use? What universal all encompassing of every situation throughout all of history is going to apply? Is it really all that complicated? Strange how the Torah was never amended or added to. How the 600+ laws never changed even though God’s people went from tribes to kingdom to local empire to exiles to global empire not once did they change the Torah to fit their new political situations. It’s almost as if the earth is the Lord’s and all those who dwell therein. It’s almost as if every knee should bow and confess Jesus is Lord aka King ruler and we live in His kingdom. Or is Jesus just a harsh master dangling carrots for us to never get. Carrots like praying for God’s will to be done an earth as it is in heaven … as you mumble that instead of saying the pledge your probably thinking yeah right that will never happen and if any nations tries it we will be the first to tell them stop it! Or chasing carrots like being told to teach and disciple the nations. We all know the nations are Babylon and Nebuchadnezzar has never and will never bow the knee to King Jesus, Pharaoh would never obey God’s orders given by God’s servant. We would never be Daniel or Joseph or John or Jesus and tell Joe Biden or Trump or Congress they have no authority apart of Jesus. That would be blasphemy worthy of crucifixion! But to play Preston’s game you would have to use the Bible as the source for rules righteousness and justice. But that would imply holding nations to Christian standards aka Christian nations almost like Jesus commands us to do 😂😂. We are not going to go to them no way! Only if they come asking us for our opinion and invite us to speak would we even dare to invite them to get to know Jesus. What was Jesus thinking go tell the nations ha! Ok ok we will go but only to the poor outcast people we would never tell Herod what he is doing is unlawful we might get our heads chopped off! Besides that implies Herod is to be held accountable to God’s law! What was John thinking it’s totally lawful for kings of earthly kingdoms to do what they want. Our kingdom is a heavenly one whose rules don’t apply here. We can’t expect non Christians to obey Christian laws! Our Father who art in heaven your kingdom come and take us outta of here because we are exiles in Babylon, your will be done only in our precious little hearts, for thine is the kingdom but not earthly kingdoms, power and glory but may we never share in that power or glory over the nations! World ending as soon as possible amen!

Is Russell Moore a wolf in sheep's clothing? Could that remotely be the case? I have to just stop listening to the many talking heads in Christianity, there are a ton of them, and spend much time alone in the scriptures listening to the author and captain of my salvation.

While making abortion illegal would be a huge step, that isn't going to happen overnight. Hearts and minds need to change along with being there for women to offer alternatives to abortion. The majority of them are pressured or coerced, not to mention lied to by the abortion industry.

Bout time you did this interview...I was saying all this 5 to6 years ago, but I didn't have a book or something making people upset. Let's also not forget the Pledge was written by a known Marxist and yet the Right thinkbits great. This guy does better at explaining and using the Bible for reference.

Jesus and John Wayne is a history book. It's job is not to fix anything but to show how we got to where we are (and it's not a good place). We can't build/fix something (positive vision) without first taking out the garbage (negative vision).

I have not heard any pastor talk about WHO you should vote for. Thinking you should ignore “politics “ is not the same as addressing the evil in our politics. Pastor Erwin Luther of Moody Church speaks to this in a very clear way. A Letter to the American Church is a great book and addressing this issue as well as our final authority…God’s word, the Bible.

Our most important goal in this life in my opinion is to bring fruit to God. Every single person matters and how we treat others must be in love always not in judgement. Politics should be no different. Respecting all opinions and truly learning the art of listening yet asking a pointed question here and there can do that more than just about anything. We are all one tribe unless we continue to allow the constant divisions that the powers that be want. I refuse and will keep my focus on my number one goal.

Neither Clinton or Obama believe in meritocracy. They and the rest of the elitist Left want "Equity", which means taking from those who produce, and giving it to those who don't. I don’t think Moore is even slightly controversial in terms of his stance against sexual abuse. I would see that as heroism. He’s contended against for being a hyper-partisan Never-Trumper. (I didn’t vote for Trump either time, but I fully understand how someone could. Moore stands in adversarial fashion against the rest of Evangelicalism. He sees in Christian Nationalism an extremism that really isn’t there. There are outliers, but Moore and his cronies have seriously overreacted.) I don’t think he himself has changed in any significant sense. I think he has always leaned toward the progressive side of Evangelicalism. For example, I believe his anti-racist position to be quite secular in its ramifications. I am rabidly anti-racist, but I nonetheless oppose Moore’s ideas. It’s weird. He and I both idolize Carl F. H. Henry. But I think he has misinterpreted him.
