This is transphobia. They identify as a woman and want to be refered to as such even by family. Reguardless of whether one loves a trans person or not, denying them of that identity consciously reguardless of the reason is still transphobic. Plenty of biological women have denser bones, more male presenting features, and/or fertility issues that prevent them from giving birth. If you had a biological sister with these issues would that make her not a woman? Using these things as an excuse is inadequate as a reason. I am a cisgender girl (meaning i was assigned female at birth and identify that way) with fertility issues myself and a good ammount of my friends are trans (male to female) and i had met them long before they knew they were trans. I understand being used to calling a certain person close to you one way and struggling to shift your way of speaking towards them for even years after they transition despite how hard one's efforts to change may be, but straight out refusing to accept their identity and not even trying to change or even understand is blatant transphobia reguardless of your relationship's nature with that person. You can still care for a trans person deeply but be transphobic and disrespectful towards them.
